landman
I have decided to attack this project wich I have been planning for a while. Started cutting using Phil Jensen's articles. Edited December 20, 2020 by landman
mikemodeler
I'll be watching this. Have always wished AMT would have issued this wrecker in 1/25 scale instead of the 1/43 they chose instead.
gotnitro?
This will be fun to watch develop ! Your aware Jamie from moluminum casts this unit now after KFS sold it . You'd just need a suitable wrecker bed for the hoist

GLMFAA1
Phil Jenson did a fine job on "how to". Here is my version of his build. Another source might be the First Gear wreckers greg

I think I found one on the internet but it was quite blurry. I got another one from a member. An original would be much better . It was called:" A Tidewater Trucker Project" by Phil Jensen. Building yhr Holmes 750 Twin boom 25 ton wrecker and it was in two parts. At the bottom of the page it says March 1973 car model. Could that be Car Modeler? landman
Pulled out my gear stash, no two are the same. Used the one closest to the fit and attempted to cast some in epoxy. It didn't work. So I'll use those two
landman
Didn't have tubing of the right size for the winch drums but I fould a dowel which will do.

HJK
Hi Pat, The two-part article was indeed printed in the 1973 March and April issues. I know that Phil Jensen wrote a book called 'Building Model Trucks. It was published in 1973 by the Auto World Library. I don't know whether you can still buy it. Take care, Juergen

Chariots of Fire
I'll have to dig out that Phil Jensen book. I have it around some place. Makes me want to get out my IH Loadstar and do the wrecker version! I see Greg dug out some old stuff too! Thanks, Greg!

GLMFAA1
One suggestion is to substitute Evergreen styrene parts for the Plastistruct butyl plastic parts as Evergreen was not around when Phil wrote the article. Plastistruct plastic is very susceptible to environmental influences and mating up to styrene is like steel and aluminum as you can notice on my model stabilizer body doors which are Plastistruct and not that 'lousy' AMT kit plastic greg

However, I am in a "use what you got" mode. I try to use the same stuff whenever it is available.
