Decided to do something easy as my next project a Chevrolet Caprice Royal Canadian Mounted Police cruiser. Have had the decals for it for about 12 years, but only recently got the kit thanks to a fellow member here.

Started with the taxi/fire chief version so definitely had to put some primer to cover that up.

I built a RCMP Caprice back in the day, but the only decals available were from Fred Cady. As soon as I finished it, the WaterMark decals showed up in the shops. I think I still have the OPP sheet around here somewhere.

Always wanted to build some OPP cruisers, but never got around to doing them.

They are very well done decals, and lots of extras too it seems.

Awesome to see what you're turning this in to!

Not bad for a snap kit eh?

I was really impressed for a snap kit pal, more to it then any snap kit I've ever built.

I built a RCMP unit using the Revell snap Expedition and the water mark decals. I have no pics:( and I gave it to a Canadian friend. I would test the decals before using them due to age.

I'm hoping that they are still good after having them that long.

Put the first coat of white on the caprice today, was trying to figure out to go with blue and white or just white as they had both around this time.

The interior I'm actually going to keep the grey i sprayed it as it's pretty close to the color I planned on using. Just needs some detailing.

My cousin in Vancouver had black Caprice like this. It was in beautiful condition but one of the head gaskets went and because it would cost a few hundred dollars to fix he scrapped it!!!!!!! I only found out after it had been dismembered.

Snap kits can be great builds. Doing a great job, carry on the good work.

I have this old kit, never started, thought it was cool, but RCMP did use 4 doors I'm pretty sure.

Yes, RCMP, had 4 doors, my brother in law, said the best Highway Patrol car he ever has was a 73 Impala with the 454, went like stink, and held the road beautifully... he absolutely loved that ride............ today's best ride, according to my two buddies here, and my nephew, is the Chevy Tahoe............. . I wish the RCMP decals were 'allowed' to be printed, but as usual due to 'copy right' stuff,  they can't be readily printed for us guys, and  guess who holds the 'copyrights' to the crest?.................................... nope not the Canadian Federal Government............... but ........... Disney............... go figure that one... I can't.....  watching with great interest....

Thanks pal, I had a 95 Caprice ex OPP cruiser that I bought for the interceptor motor to put in my 87 Regal. Almost kept the car for myself, best driving 4 door car I've ever owned.

Now that is a cool looking kit, wouldn't mind building myself a 4 door version. I'm pretty sure there is one out there in resin.

Disney owning the RCMP copyright, that is odd though they own so much more. Wait till they start buying countries then it will be welcome to the United States brought to you by the Walt Disney Corporation.

Thank you appreciate it, a Mustang in RCMP colors would definitely look good.

Question for the experts out there, the lights on the light bar call for clear red which I don't have. No hobby shops in my area anymore and currently under lockdown here again so not much open. Called a few shops hours away and one had some but said shipping would be 18 dollars which I told him it would be a frosty day in hell before I pay that much shipping for paint.

My question is their any way to thin red paint enough and if so how much mixture should I use or just paint it red and be done with it?

I'd just try it on a scrap piece of clear. I think the biggest problem you'll have is obvious brush strokes.

I have used food coloring mixed with Future acrylic to tint windows. You will have to get it pretty dark in the cup before applying it. If you do not like the results, it will come right off with household ammonia.

Jason, do you have a Michael's crafts in your area, or any craft store?

I'd get some paint for stained glass like the Krylon stuff below. Walmart might even have it.

Stained Glass Paint 11.5oz-Cranberry Red | Walmart Canada

Or even that Duplicolor Metalcast anodizing stuff from Canadian Tire.

Duplicolor MC200 Metal Cast Red Anodized Spray Paint Aerosol 11oz. | eBay

Depending on what you're using, you can thin out red paint.

If it's acrylic, start with three parts thinner, one part paint, and dilute until you get the clarity you want.

For Testors/Humbrol enamels, I'd start at four parts thinner, one part paint.

Red food coloring in Future is an interesting idea, too.

Thanks guys for all the ideas, i have a Michael's in my area but it's closed again due to the lockdown here in Ontario for a month.

I'll give your suggestions a try when I get back at the model in a few days.

That disney deal only lasted five years in the nineties; the force didn't renew the contract after that.

Those Polar Graphics watermark decals were excellent. My sheets were applied to an LX mustang, a caprice and a '93 Camaro. Still have some partial ones. The last sheet I picked up was at a hobby shop in Great Falls about twenty years ago.
