So, some buddies decided to do a 24 hour build ( same rules as the Facebook 24hr build), but as we aren’t on Facebook , we would do it amongst ourselves. I picked the snap kit as I figured I might actually finish it in the allotted time frame and still have a half way decent looking build. So at noon today, I started thrashing, lol. Hopefully this won’t be a long build topic...., stay tuned, it’s going to go fast , I hope...

Thanks, it’s moving along pretty good so far. Had to change out the green for the frame, went with sublime green, as I had more of it than the other bright green , didn’t want to have a shortage in the middle of the project, lol. Got a lot of stuff in color....

cab is in the dehydrator to speed cure time so I can two tone it, and I know this kits engine isn’t a green leaker, but alpine green went with the overall color scheme, it just seemed the way to go?

Thanks guys, about 5 hours in now, cab I think is ready for color two after an hour in the dehydrator, got a few more bits detailed up. Still have fuel tanks to deal with and need to do work on the dash yet, stay tuned .....

Tom that’s going to be really sharp with the sublime frame. Looks like you have your schedule down pretty good. You still have a good 17 hours left. Do you get anything extra if you finish early?

Posted

Lol, no extra, actually no anything?  just a fun thing between a few friends. My buddies are making good progress on their builds as well. My plan was to get everything painted and somewhat detailed so in the morning I could pop it all together. I have to clear the cab, finish the dash, paint the tanks and foil the straps on the air cleaner and luberifiner, will have to do the windshield gasket and door handles in the morning. I do have a rolling chassis now ......

Cool!  I just bought this kit two days ago, now your going to finish it in 24!  With the blurry photos, I see you are either really in a hurry or just have that look of a race to build!

Gonna watch this thread.

You guys have the race on your computers while you build?

I am working on that kit myself right now. I have found that I needed to trim or remove many of the 'snap' pins or tabs as Revell has allowed the mold to wear and things will not snap....not an issue but not a kit a kid can just snap build.

Good work so far...I like the green....used green for the KW I built.

Great looking KW, that was my other choice, but the 359 won out this time around.

Ok guys, it’s 9:42 here on the east coast, this is my last update for tonight . Windshield gasket is painted, hit the inside of the cab with some craft paint that’s a close match to the interior color, cab lights are painted as well as the tail lamps, fuel tanks are painted as well. I should be able to wrap this up in a few hours in the morning......, I think.  Thanks for following along and showing interest on this quickie build, see you tomorrow with the final installments.

Heck, I didn't even know that it was a snap kit.  The outside of the box says cement is needed to complete the model!!

When Monogram tooled these kits YEARS ago they were pushed a snap kits......much like big versions of the line of 1/32 snap trucks they had.

Many parts still 'snap' but the fact much of that has deteriorated they became 'GLUE' kits. Engine still snaps together well!
