Bullybeef Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 Decided it was time to post this one up, my take on a 32 Ford pickup. Started with the bones of an amt kit, I will be combining the cab and bed with the revell 32 frame and fenders, I’ll also be pilfering the bod and radiator shell. The first pic is as usual my inspiration from the interwebs So the bulk of the build will be from surviving bits from some rough built ups that I’ve sourced over the past couple of months. Ive started off with filing the extra trim line off the cab, and mocking up the frame and body parts. the rest are progress of sorts,
Bullybeef Posted February 5, 2021 Author Posted February 5, 2021 Engine choice time, i had narrowed it down to three choices, 59a flathead, early Chrysler hemi, or a nice FE 427
Bullybeef Posted February 5, 2021 Author Posted February 5, 2021 Decided on the Fe 427, this is the roush tuned one from the revell foose F100, built box stock with the exceptions of deleting the power steering pump, and exclusion of the kit decals, the only addition to the stock kit engine would be the plug wiring ( only my second time doing them?)

And a complete engine. Had to do a bit of trimming on the revell frame to get it all lined up and sorted for that monster 427 and massively long C6 trans. and thanks again to @Muncie for these awesome engine stands!
Bullybeef Posted February 6, 2021 Author Posted February 6, 2021 Bobbed the box, by what should be 16 scale inches, and got the first colour coat on!
Dennis Lacy Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 As the owner of a full scale ‘32 Pickup I approve of this thread! Conversion looks good as does your suspension and engine detailing. Speaking of the engine, nice choice! A Ford in a Ford. @tim boyd will be pleased!

Thank you so much @Dennis Lacy, well today we have setbacks and Soloutions, being that this is a rescue of a previously built model, it was built up with no paint, and we all know that means almost perfect glue adhesion☹️ So in dismantling the cab the windshield and frame were horribly glued together and the result was mangled styrene. I saved as much of it as I could to hopefully provide enough for a template of sorts to fabricate another frame, I’ll just cut another windshield from the excess acetate sheet from Revells 29 pickup. I had thought of using a stock frame from a 32 5 window kit but they are not the same curve on the cowl. so out came the sheet styrene 020 and a template was marked for size, I used common masking tape to get the correct arc for the bottom and the cutting began. with a little light sanding and filing I should be able to massage this into a decent enough frame.
Bullybeef Posted February 7, 2021 Author Posted February 7, 2021 Starting to get the suspension ready for install, dry fitting some parts to make sure all the clearances are still good after paint, I will have to rework the exhaust system a little to mate up with the foose FE427 headers!
Deuces ll Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 Just curious which kit came with that cool engine stand....??

alan barton Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 I like the look of this one. I had already started a cab and had planned to use the AMT fenders and frame as I have an abundance of them. Seeing yours on the Revell frame I think maychanged my mind! I am also considering using a Monogram 1/24th scale 29 pickup bed. A friend on the other side of Australia has a real one using this combination, in Kermit Greem with whitewalls. Quite tempted to do the same! Cheers Alan
Paul Payne Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Great interpretation of the inspiration! Shiny black paint is always good! I like your detailing on the engine and suspension components.
