Do junk box builds qualify as restorations ?

Not really--two completely different things. Both require skill, and both can be a lot of fun--I enjoy both.

There’s a fine line in there somewhere... my Jeep started out as a glue bomb some kit must’ve built. It was in my junk / parts box. So is it a resto or parts box build.. or both?

It's not a restoration. You made significant changes/improvements to it.  I'd call it a rebuild by my definitions. (I might do a whole post on the fine points of such words sometime.)

Okay, I’ll play..  you’ve added a new term of “rebuild” and I’ll buy that.

I'm pretty sure I've never restored a model to its original state,,,, say an Old AMT 59merc, with parts that were originally in the kit, to a box stock state. So I can honestly say I've never, and probably never will restore an old glue bomb. I guess it might be a restification ?

There is not a single Ranchero out of the hundreds you have. You saved it with the Lancer/Valiant/57 bird top mashup though.
Snake has as many 65-66 Mustangs as you have Darts I think.
Parts Box Restoration rebuilding a car that died/pissed us off and got dumped in parts box   An extreme case of BOYD

 ???‍♂️?

It has to give a builder more satisfaction and enjoyment to build a model out of the part or junk box then a brand new kit. Like Tom’s Jeep for instance..

It does Carl! I'll take an old rare glue bomb over a new kit any day! It's much more satisfying to take something like this...

And turn it into this....

It sure is, and it takes a lot more skill, too. You did a magnificent job with this one. Well done and model on! B)

Absolutely! I enjoy restoring/rebuilding old built ups way more than box builds. My problem is i try saving them all if they are old no matter the condition.

Me too Scott! I've done some rough ones over the years! I've only had one that I gave up on and it was just too far gone and too much missing.

About all my builds have parts from other kits.

Lately, all of my builds-in-progress have parts from other guys' old gluebomb builds.
