Finally had some good weather yesterday so I could finish painting the body that I started before the Texas Freeze. The paint is Tamiya Light Green Pearl and Krylon Semi-gloss White. Thanks for looking!

Looks great John! Great color choice.

I have one of these going myself, I'm nearly finished.

A word of caution though.

When you put the chassis together, mind the front radiator support. In the directions, it looks as if you are to put it in place then lower the body on the chassis. I initially built mine this way but when I went to lower the body on to the chassis, I discovered that the flare at the top of the radiator support wall was too wide to allow it to slip into the engine bay. I ended up removing it and replacing it after I secured the body to the rest of the chassis.

Not only did this necessitate the removal and replacement of both radiator (the lower of which I may end up leaving off) but now the hood contacts the radiator support and is about 1/2 mm from closing flush. ?

I may have misinterpreted the directions but I thought I'd share the information with you just in case.

Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! David, thanks for the tip. I often find that adding the radiator after the body is on works better on many models.

I haven't gotten much done, except for painting all the other parts and rubbing out the body. Foil tomorrow!

Thanks, Tom, Carl and David! I appreciate your comments!

Finished the interior and everything went smoothly. Some black and aluminum paint, foil, foil and chrome pen and its done. Moving on to the engine and chassis. I am waiting on pre-wired distributors and it looks like it will be tough to complete the chassis without mounting the engine first so I may have a small delay here. I might have to get another body painted. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, Carl and David! I appreciate your comments!

Well, I decided not to wait on the pre-wired distributors as it will slow down the build. I drilled out the center of the distributor, cut 9 pieces of gray spark plug wire about 1.5 inches long (trimmed shorter later as each plug wire was installed with a boot) stuck them in the hole in the distributor that was painted tan and aluminum.  Next, I installed Pro Tech wire looms with a long bracket that I bent to install under the valve cover. Then threaded each wire through the loom and into the spark plug hole that I had previously drilled out, with a boot on the end of the wire. The block is painted with Tamiya Camel Yellow since I don't have and have not heard of Yellow Jacket Yellow in model paint. Now I can move on to the chassis. Thanks for looking! ?

Its on wheels! I got the fender skirts as far on the outer edge as I could get them and it was a tough mating but that's the best I can do. The body went on fairly easily and I got the radiator installed after. I'm not sure its in the placement holes but I used some glue on the sides so it in there pretty sturdy. I did have one error that is a little embarrassing. I painted the firewall black and it should be body color. Fords have body color firewalls, generally, Chevys are all black in the engine bay and Mopars are all body color. I know this but completely spaced out!

In addition, I unfortunately lost the master brake cylinder. I spent at least an hour looking for it including emptying the trash, finding the parts tree it was attached to but no luck. So since the steering linkage wouldn't quite fit, doesn't connect to anything and you can't see it anyway, I cut it down a bit and used it for a master brake cylinder. None in the parts box as I usually use all of them on each completed build. So, its almost done but now I am exhausted! Thanks for looking! ?

Looks great, it seems to be coming along nicely.

That's a bummer about the master cylinder, I hate losing parts.

I know what what you mean about the steering gear. I did manage to get it slotted in on mine, it was rather like working one of those old BB puzzles in 3-D. I never did get it to connect to the pitman arm below, there's about 2mm of air between the two.

Great work on the distributor and skirts. I'm just curious, did you install them before or after mating the chassis and body?

Thanks, Carl and David! I appreciate your comments! David, I put the fender skirts on before I mated the body to the chassis. That's the only way I could figure out to hold the skirt in place with some pressure on the edge of the body. I did a better job on the left than the right because after mounting the right one, I thinned down the edge or ridge in the wheel opening and also thinned down the lip on the fender skirt by scraping both with my #11 blade.  Not for the faint of heart after it was painted. I wish I had thinned them down and glued them on before paint. I could have sanded them down a bit and even puttied them up a bit without eliminating the seam. Thanks for  looking! ?

The front and the engine bay are now done. Only a few more pieces and this one will be done!

Its finished! Everything went together well for the most part. The fender skirts were the most troublesome. Thanks, for looking! ?

Thanks, Carl, David and Mike! I appreciate your comments!  I have built both the Revell and AMT 49 Mercs but still have at least one of each. Maybe I'll build them again soon! Thanks for looking! ?
