Super!... A very appealing build to look at. Nice colors and sheen, and all the details are well done.

I also think your photos/camera angles are very good!

Thank you, believe it or not all the photos were taken with my phones camera, not the newest phone either!

Nice work! I think the engine may be my favorite part; very realistic appearance. Well done.

Thank you, it was one of my favorite parts to build and detail.

One of the more ambitious of the modern issue car kits. I have one waiting for some careful, focused bench time. I recently cracked it open and I agree, the instructions are less than encouraging and clear. That's why it will need some focus. Your rendition does it more than justice. Bravo!

And welcome!

Thanks for posting your very crisp photos. This is a great example of post-war American auto styling that IMHO we don't have enough examples of. I am surely prejudiced towards this type of model having owned a real '48 for a couple decades before gifting it to our oldest grandson. He will be a great conservator. You did a great job with a difficult kit.

Thanks guys, I thought it was just me kinda struggling through the build being as how I was fairly fresh back to the game. Apparently it is a rather notoriously difficult kit. Makes me slightly more proud of how it turned out.

It was not an easy kit at all. The destructions, I mean instructions were very vague in some spots, most importantly as to the exact location of the firewall in the body. This is a crucial step as the rest of the body panels rely on its position, especially in regards to the final fitment of the hood. It took lots of test fitting of almost the entire chassis and body to get it just right, I ended up having to trim the very oversized locating ledge for the firewall on the underside of the cowl to  almost a nub before it fit.

Even after lots of test fitting the body still gave me a hard time going all the way over the rear wheels with the lowered suspension. It was almost like the body wasn't wide enough at that point of the wheel well. A little sanding of the upper edge of the wheel skirts and some really colorful language made it go!  So, no it wasn't just you, it was a tough kit. I have the matching 47 Coupe in my stash, there are a few things I will do differently!

Thank you, Josh - then I'm not alone - this is what I answered in Feb. to another modeler about the issues with this kit:

I spray-painted (rattle-can) body, hood, fenders and firewall at once, but glued them together almost 20 years later in final assembly: Here I first glued the firewall to the floor, a few weeks later after assembling the interior, I glued the front edge of the body to the firewall, pushing the body forward as far as possible (I was even afraid that the body would break) - then I pushed the front fenders as far back as I could and glued them with super-glue.

If you don't push the fenders back as far as possible, you won't be able to place the hood correctly - a huge gap will remain (on a German modeling board a guy even wrote that he had to lengthen the hood with about 1,5 mm plastic sheet to close the gap in front of the windshield) and the brackets for the bumpers will not stick out enough so you may become troubles with mounting the bumpers (front and rear).

The hood hinges were a pain in the a.. for me : they fell off several times when I tried to install the hood - so finally the hood is only lying on fenders and firewall and not fixed anyhow.

Had much the same problem on the one I built. I think part of the problem has to do with getting the radiator to fit into the area in the front end. This doesn't let the front fenders slide back far enough. The gaps on this body assembly are vey tight and if any one part isn't done just right then the front fenders will not slide back as they should.

This. The two areas that gave me the most issues during test fitting everything was the radiator and firewall. Once the proper positioning of these two parts is determined the front fenders can slide all the way back. The firewall was also extremely important to getting the hood gap correct. I had to trim the lower portion of my hood hinges where they entered the firewall, as the hood would close the hinges would contact the inside of the dash and wouldn't allow the hood to sit flush.
