OldTrucker Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 Pulled an old build I started and hadn't touched in almost 20 years. Just narrowed the wrecker bed snd I am making faux toolboxes to fill the void under the bed using poster board. Then need to finish the job of the narrowed hood I started on 20 years ago. Need to,make shutter flaps. Maybe a piece of a mimi blind will work for that. Hard part is a filler between hood and fenders.
OldTrucker Posted June 28, 2021 Author Posted June 28, 2021 Bed floor, header and rear panel ready for primer and finish. Narrowed the hood, grill and working on the fender extensions.
gotnitro? Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Looking good! Narrowing the bed really helps the overall appearance of the truck
OldTrucker Posted July 2, 2021 Author Posted July 2, 2021 Foiled the grill. Far from perfect but the foil is terrible to work with now.
Rockford Posted July 5, 2021 Posted July 5, 2021 I built this truck years ago and wouldn't have thought to narrow the body, but now that you mention it, it makes tremendous sense. The truck will look much more muscular.
Force Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 (edited) The wrecker bed is too wide scalewise and need to be cut down 1/8th of an inch on each side. Ohh by the way, there is no "u" in Peterbilt. Edited July 6, 2021 by Force

David G. Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 You're off to a good start. This looks like it should be an interesting build. David G.
OldTrucker Posted July 6, 2021 Author Posted July 6, 2021 Thanks David! I put this on hold for way too long and finally decided good or bad to get it done this time around. Working on all the wrecker hardware and boy is there a lot to clean up on it!LOL
OldTrucker Posted July 25, 2021 Author Posted July 25, 2021 Working on the bed and accessories. Used hemp cord from Dollar General for cable. Trying to male the jack look more presentable. Cut along the lift arm and dished the pad a little.
OldTrucker Posted August 10, 2021 Author Posted August 10, 2021 Moving along slow. My paint for the main color went bad. Finished up the interior tonight.
OldTrucker Posted August 10, 2021 Author Posted August 10, 2021 Chassis and engine mostly complete. Just sprayed the chrome wheels with dullcoat.
OldTrucker Posted October 3, 2021 Author Posted October 3, 2021 (edited) Hood, grill and fenders done. Not perfect but as good as I can do. Edited October 4, 2021 by OldTrucker 1
Kromolly Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 Looking good! Feel good about getting it done and not about any imperfection that YOU may see. The rest of us only see a cool truck being well built. I'm jealous, I haven't had time to get to any of my models, and I want to build some trucks!
David G. Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 Looks good so far, "Keep on Truckin'" as the saying goes. David G.

gotnitro? Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 Looking good !!! The hemp rope looks good in scale for your cable wire, ill have to keep an eye out for some
OldTrucker Posted October 4, 2021 Author Posted October 4, 2021 Just unmasked the 1st bed side. Took me over 2 hours to mask it. Was afraid the tape might be too thick and sticky but it came out pretty good! Will di the other side tomorrow. 1
OldTrucker Posted October 8, 2021 Author Posted October 8, 2021 Getting closer! Didn't want Don's so made up a name using some left over decals. Would have changed location but didn't have anything that would work. 1
OldTrucker Posted October 10, 2021 Author Posted October 10, 2021 Could not stand the missing tool boxes so made some out of my empty cheerios box. 1
OldTrucker Posted October 17, 2021 Author Posted October 17, 2021 A test fit as it heads to final stage of the build. What a pain this old kit is to get everything situated correctly. Axles seem not to be aligned from drivers side.. 2
