Zippi Posted August 10, 2021 Author Posted August 10, 2021 Well....after multiple attempts and knocking the tail lights off a couple times I finally go the foil to stick. Not only was the foil not wanting to stick to the trim it kept tearing when burnishing it down with a Q Tip. Both sides has a few extra strips where it tore and I had to replace it. That's as good as it's going to get, I'm not messing with it anymore. Just found out the hood doesn't fit as good as it did early on. Not sure what happened but it's a little late now. 1
TransAmMike Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 Looks just fine Buddy!! Thank goodness there isn't anymore foiling huh?? And now it's my turn to ************on my Chevelle foiling this afternoon.?

bluestringer Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 Looks awesome Bob. That red really pops. I have not tried bare metal foil yet, still sticking with my silver sharpies.

Zippi Posted August 11, 2021 Author Posted August 11, 2021 I finished all the decals on the body this morning. To hot in the garage (92 with heat index of 103) so I'm headed in for the day. 2
TransAmMike Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 That really looks grrrrrrr8 Bob. Beautiful red ?
Zippi Posted August 11, 2021 Author Posted August 11, 2021 Thanks Mike. I'm going slow but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Zippi Posted August 13, 2021 Author Posted August 13, 2021 Well....I had a major setback this morning. I worked for a long time this morning trying to get the body to fit down on the chassis and it just did not want to go. The longer I worked at it the more frustrating it got. I finally pushed to hard and snapped the rear wheels and brakes, broke the axle, broke off the door panel and I don't know what all else. I also managed to mess up the paint job and destroy one of the decals. I gathered up all the parts and threw it all in a plastic tub and kicked it under the work bench. I am so ticked off . 1
stinkybritches Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH, that sucks. I know it doesn't make you feel better, but I've had similar situations happen to me.
High octane Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 For those who have not built this kit yet, the paint should be candy red over gold base and a flat black firewall as per a conversation I had with Big John at Indy many years ago. 2

Dang it Bob, hate to hear that. Take a break for a few days, then get back on it, I'm sure you can fix it.
Brutalform Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 You’ll get it figured out on another day. When one little thing goes wrong on my builds, I just call it a day and walk away. Sometimes I start another build altogether. Hmmm now I know why I always got 15 builds going on. Still with the set back, you have done a fine job on the Willys.
Zippi Posted August 14, 2021 Author Posted August 14, 2021 Thanks guys. I'm taking the weekend off. May take a look at it on Monday.
David G. Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 (edited) I found this thread late in the game and had fun catching up... until the end. What a bummer of a finish. Though maybe... hopefully, not the end. I feel your frustration Bob. David G. Edited August 14, 2021 by David G. typo
