Nice looking interior. The embossing powder on the door panel inserts makes them passable as the GT tweed upholstery at first glance.

Thank you, that was the look I was going for.

got the engine assembled and detailed. Detailed similarly to the engine for my Mark build but decided to leave this one non A/C. Only thing left is add some small decals.

Looking great so far! :D AMT can call it a 1988 all they want, but '87 was the last year for T Tops, LOL :P

No, it wasn’t. 1988 was and they had the same flag mirrors on the doors as convertibles. ?

There were a few hundred in '88, but '87 was the last "official" year that you could order one and the last year that Ford "offered" them in the line up.  We bought/owned a new LX 5.0  Hatch in '88, also built the original version of this kit in 1987. (I only remember that because it was months before getting the new Mustang, LOL)

They were not leftovers that were retagged as an 88's as a lot of people think. It was an option in 88 and was axed part way through the model year of 88. Also there were a few thousand t-top cars built in 88. The numbers were shown through some resent marti reports etc...

I guess the dealers that we talked to in 1988 (over 100), who more than likely talked to Ford (because we were pretty persistent) were all wrong in 1988, when all they were told from Ford was "it was an '87 option, not available on 88's". Memory fades over 33 years too though, maybe I'm misremembering what the dealers told me, maybe they were wrong, it was late Spring 1988, maybe it had been axed by that point and the dealers were right (but we were too late), who knows?. Regardless it's not worth bickering about (especially over a model build--which is looking beautiful, BTW--it's not like it's a real car that one of us is trying to authenticate or something like that, LOL). I'll stand corrected and chalk it up as "I learned something new today". Wishing you and yours a merry Christmas and happy holiday season, my friend. ?
