Brutalform Posted August 14, 2021 Author Posted August 14, 2021 This kind of reminds me of the old monthly model club I belonged to as a kid in the early 70s. I’d like to look into it more about pricing. Seems just about everything is screwed together on this car.
slusher Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Real nice looking kit but I build 1/24 and 1/25 kits..
Scott Colmer Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 I'll take the Charger from F9. Mid engine beast!
440 Dakota Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 I'll admit I didn't watch much of the video as that car has zero appeal to me, but what I did see looks about like the Eagle moss cars, where you buy 3 or 4 kit packages that contain a few parts every month, and takes about 3 years to accumulate all the parts to finish at about a 15-16 hundred dollar cost, I sorta looked at the BTTF release when I first seen it, but for me that's too much money for what it is and having to keep track of all the parts and sub assemblies for 3 yrs till complete no thanks too much can happen in that time period, company goes away, lost parts etc, he is a quick read I found about the Eagle Moss cars https://www.hagerty.com/media/news/superbly-detailed-movie-car-scale-models/
bobthehobbyguy Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 Its an eighth scale diecast that you assemble yourself. Its expensive. It looks like a diecast when assembled and I'm not sure that you can overcome that appearance. You can get some decent 18th scale diecast for a lot cheaper. For the price it coasts it shouldn't look like a model with good photography it sho6nd look lije real deal. Plus the subscription idea makes me nervous. If they go belly up you'll never be able to finish it,
espo Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 I'm not a buyer myself, but I can see how someone interested in the subject would want to get one. I also think this would be a good way to get someone into building that has been intimidated in the past from trying.
Tom Geiger Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 This product isn't targeted at our crowd. They’re appealing to fans if that movie series, especially the younger people. They’re hoping you won’t add up the payments! I can see few completed as people won’t stay interested for three years, especially if the company doesn’t stay afloat!

I noticed there was another thread after I posted this one, and Bill (Mr Obsessive) said the cost is like $71 a month, and the whole thing while said and done would cost $1700 for a complete car. Might be a cash grab….for some anyway. Edited August 14, 2021 by Brutalform
Brian Austin Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 (edited) Adam Savage has a few videos of him assembling the Ectomobile kit from the Eaglemoss series on his "Tested" YouTube channel. Now there's a monster of a diecast! ? He stated that he had been stockpiling the parts sets for later, but decided during the lockdown to put some together. Honestly I'd skip the GB gear and build it as a stock ambulance or hearse, but that would be a bunch of money to throw at it. ? Edited August 15, 2021 by Brian Austin
