espo Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 Saturday car show at Ft. Leavenworth Ks. A very wide verity of styles a little something for everyone.
TarheelRick Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 Definitely some nice rides. What is the deal with the two pictures of the Gold/Maroon Chevrolet Pickup with the Yellow Chevy Sedan? In the second picture it looks as if the pickup has driven off into a ditch and bent his bumper and grille.
TransAmMike Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 A whole lot of realllly nice vehicles...would be hard to pick a winner in that group. I will say tho, that unique color scheme on the '61 Impala is sure interesting.

I was using my phone and these new 5G phones will sometimes due strange things. This was a warm day and I think the phone started to lose it's mind as there were several photos that all I got were the lower half of a car or the upper half. These pictures are only about 2/3 of the cars there because of the phone going crazy.

The trim on the grill and trunk was the crossed flages so I was looking for a 348 or 409 maybe. The car had a very healthy sounding small block. The paint is a high metallic two tone gray. The picture really doesn't do this car justice. The paint looks like it is a mile deep and was super smooth. The owner is either a painter or he spent some serious money, but it was well spent.

That '56 was the first one to really catch my eye until I saw the '61?. I does look red in the picture tho on my screen. Beautiful.
Zippi Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 Now that Hugger Orange is in my mind while I go back and look at it.....it does look more orange. No matter, its a great looking 56.

The finish on the car was outstanding and the workmanship under the hood and the interior was beyond what you would normally expect. A majority of the cars at this show are the type you would see at a judged indoor show. I only saw two trailers in the parking area so these were all driven from around the area.

My wife and I love going to all the cruise-in's and shows. Last weekend we won Majors choice and best of show with our 1949 Chevy 5 window pickup with an LS 5.3.
misterNNL Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 (edited) Nice selection of photos. Thanks for posting them. A wide variety of decades of vehicles represented. My personal fave has to be that '40's Cadillac convertible. A guy could spend a whole weekend cleaning bugs off that front bumper and grille. Edited August 16, 2021 by misterNNL Fat fingers
thatz4u Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 the 57 Ford wagon would easily transfer to 1/25th scale, nice how the 40 Ford rat nailed the last witch from OZ..LOL
Tom Geiger Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 My picks are the 57 Ranch Wagon and the gray 33-34 Ford 4 door sedan patina car… both have me wanting to reach for kits! Some nice cars out in the corn fields! My father was stationed at Fort Riley, so I lived there when I was 1 to 3 years old. Not that I remember much.. just remember going to Dogs And Suds!

I don't recall a Cadillac photo, but did you notice the Lincoln Continental in a soft gold color with the blue convertible top ? I don't remember ever seeing one of those done in this style. I also found a late '30's Buick sedan in a pearl beige and a restored Packard in maroon. The older big sedans look good with some updates.

There are several cars that offer some ideas to use in our builds.

I also liked the Ranch Wagon and I have owned a couple of '57 Fords in the past and really like the car. The '34 Ford, going by the grill shell anyway, was really well done. I think some if not all of that finish was from mother nature. The '57 is much the same way as it looked like the paint was somehow washed away on the high spots of the body. The engine now is a small block Ford of unknown CID.
iamsuperdan Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 That gold Caprice woody wagon is checking my boxes.

Paul Payne Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 Thanks much for sharing- lots of model ideas!
