Gramps46 Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 (edited) Greenwood BFG Corvette GT – another model from the archives. This kit was released in 1973 by AMT and while a simple kit a very welcome one. The model has yellowed and some of the decals are starting to flake. The only changes I made are I added headlights and driving lamps and changed the numbers to those worn in the 1972 Le Mans race and driven by Greenwood and Dick Smothers (the comedian). What was unique about this car was that it raced on radial tires which had been shaved down to reduce tread depth. Edited December 8, 2021 by Gramps46
TransAmMike Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Looks great Gary, all those decals, whoa!!?
Rich Chernosky Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Gotta luv them Greenwood Corvettes. This one has aged pretty well.
afx Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Again nice work Gary. I also have this kit in the stash.
vamach1 Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 Very nice. It’s nice to see these old American Muscle cars on the European circuits amongst all the smaller cars. Once I figure out where my kits are I need to finish my 73 Mustang that was driven in the 74 SPA 24 hours by a local entrant. The decals will be hard to replicate.

By the way, shaving tread off the tires and call them BF Goodrich Lifesaver Radial... I think nobody today would like to race on such tires - the team probably won't be permitted to participate that way.
