Revell 29 ford roadster end of 21 build “finished”

Figured I’d try to smash out an end of the year build. I’ve had this kit since January and the only thing I’ve had done was to rob the wheels out of it lol.

Decided on the channeled rod version. The frame and is components build up rather well. But now I’m at a crossroads, while the casting on the small block chebby is nice, I feel this ride deserves a third pedal. So I’m opting for a early 40’s flathead with a three speed crunch box instead. A pair of strombergs and some offenhauser heads will add some flavour.

Interesting how many of us use kit goodies to help us build- nice work so far, looking forward to more.

Thanks Paul,

well I wasn’t happy with the little metal axle pins so I replaced them with some styrene rod. This will allow a positive end fitment.

Still continuing on with the warmed over flattie. Working on a proper engine mount and a set of headers.

also have to add a lip to the rear wheels, got a little carried away making them fit the amt slicks.

work continues

I like the change to the Flathead engine here.

Well in my opinion, the standard Chev/Olds/Buick is kinda overdone, that and a slush box is counter intuitive to a hot rod build.
Thanks for looking and commenting.

I couldn't agree more,  Bil.  I figure whoever designed the kit was stuck in the '70s. That or they never drove a stick.

Thank you gentlemen, I actually really like the ability to swap parts from other kits when doing these old hot rods. Revell hit the mark with these kits and I hope they will do more like it in the future. They need to do a 33-34 ford rendition imo.

Agreed!  My only '33/'34 3W choice was the ZZ Top Eliminator kit. Oh, and the Beach Boys too. Not the greatest. Absolutely couldn't build those oob.

Jim there is a soloution to this problem, find the revell 33 snapper and cut the hood off add the inner cowl/firewall from the 34 5 window kit and away you go.

Wow I love it!

Not exactly a silk purse, but that kit is definitely a sow's ear. 🐷 it felt toy-like mostly due to that horrible red plastic. The front end was way too thin and fragile. I'll probably use it in a gasser. Someday. The engine is completely useless and the wheels...... ugh. I really only wanted that 3W shell but I expected more from Revell.20211120_081741.jpg.aeaa97d4e92b32fae831c0ac28e04a7f.jpg
