Oldmopars Posted January 24, 2022 Author Posted January 24, 2022 (edited) The Coketruck is moving forward. I have half of the beverage box finish. I did the right side first because it will not open. I have planned all along to have 1 of the side doors open to see inside and see the stack of coke bottles. This is going to be more work, so I did the easy side first. Right now I think the box sits a bit too low, I an going to raise it up at least an 1/8 inch. The box needs to be low, it is a city truck and the low box makes it easy to load and unload. But I think it is just a little bit too low. This will be an easy fix as the box slots over the frame. I will just add spacers till it looks right. Now for the hardside. Oldmopars Posted January 24, 2022 Author Posted January 24, 2022 Well, some time later. I now have the left side done. There is still much to do, lots of seams to fill, lights to add. I may add some more details and moldings, etc. But the basic box is there. 1
mgreco53 Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Looking good, the pictures of the real truck look like the bottom of the edge is even with the rear hub.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 That looks awesome! Very nice looking drink bed! Excellent scratch building!
Mopar - D Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Excellent scratch building Scott your nailing this one!
doorsovdoon Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Looking good. That box is very well done, nice work.
Oldmopars Posted January 24, 2022 Author Posted January 24, 2022 After some internet searching I found a truck very close to what I am building. This one is much longer and even seems to have sme kind of extension on the back after the last set of doors. However it is a straight side like the one I am building. This one looks to be for more rual routes and larger loads, while mine is a city truck, smaller loads and more manerverable in town. I have the rear fender area round, while most I see are angular. I am on the fence about changing it. Input? I just ordered some non-chrome 2 hole style wheels from Scenes Unlimited. I like the chrome wheels, but they seem a bit too much bling for a working truck and I can find very few examples of beverage trucks with the Aluminum/Chrome wheels. I love the look of this Pepsi version and I am a Pepsi fan, I have a ton of Coca-cola decals from all f my coke models, plus vending machines and bottles. So, going with Coke theme will save me money.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Looks good! Whichever way you go on the fenders will look great I’m sure. I personally would leave the round fenders and just add the step, but I like to be different.?
Mopar - D Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 Scott yours looks like the picture Brian posted except for the Chevy cab. I’m not sure what the tank is for that’s above the cab?

Oldmopars Posted February 7, 2022 Author Posted February 7, 2022 No pictures, but I did get a first coat of primer on the body and box this weekend. I can now start fixing issues and get it ready for paint. The new wheels I ordered have not arrived, so I don’t know how those look yet.
vincen47 Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Keep it up, great work. I like the round wheel opening. I’d say it looks a little more vintage that way, but I’m sure they’re examples of modern units that have a round opening too, and visa versa. Understandable using the Coca Cola decals, not like there’s a shortage of those. I’d love to see Pepsi, or a lesser-known brand like Sundrop, Sunkist, or Faygo, but gotta go with what’s available. Heck, even RC Cola. Maybe there’s the block “Coke” rather than script “Coca-Cola” decals to be a little different?

I would like to go with Pepsi, there are just no easy to get decals. I will check Ebay.
Oldmopars Posted February 10, 2022 Author Posted February 10, 2022 I may have found an option. You can sellect the decals in different scales. I will just need to do some measuring and see what scale I need to order it in.

slusher Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 You have done some impressive work, looking forward to more…
Oldmopars Posted February 20, 2022 Author Posted February 20, 2022 I really wanted to have a D shaped tank, but I just didn't want to buy one. Too much time to gett it and too many vendors are out of stock. So, I made one out of sign foam, its a lot like Renshape. I had to coat t with some putty and primer to fill the texture. The straps are electrical tape. I got some paint on the frame and the body. I wanted to add a little color, but every truck I can find pictures of are all black. So, I painted the hubs to just add a little pop of color. 2
gotnitro? Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 Outstanding work Really like the open door you added, adds another dimension to the build
Mopar - D Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 Coming along nicely Scott looking forward to seeing your next update.
