But I agree with gbtr6 it looks even better now. When I build mine I will keep it as it is because when I do modifications more often than not it gets worse. Expand Thanks Daniel ! All of the MGB photos I can find online show the front being higher than the rear , I know very little about these cars but it must be the way they were designed . Looks good like that but my personal taste is for the front to be lower .
David G. Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 What a clever idea for lowering the suspension, thanks for posting it. I usually end up learning something new when I follow your builds. David G.
TooOld Posted January 26, 2022 Author Posted January 26, 2022 Thanks David ! I didn't come up with that idea , I saw it on line .
cobraman Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 Cool project that I am sure will turn out great !

Spent the weekend working on the chassis . From everything I can find it looks like MGB's had their chassis painted all black , very boring so this will be a little different . I started by patching the holes left by grinding on the chassis plate . Then it was sprayed with red oxide primer , masked and sprayed with gloss black . The suspension parts were also sprayed gloss black . The chassis was assembled out of the box and just picked out some details with paint . The front suspension is assembled but won't be glued to the chassis until later . Here's the finished chassis with the front suspension in place for the photos . Edited January 30, 2022 by TooOld 1

Started on the interior with some paint and embossing powder for the carpeting . There's a few small parts that need painting and I need to finish the dash and detail the sides . I made my own rub strips for the cargo area using flat stock and half round strip . They turned out better than I expected , should be interesting gluing them in place .
beeRS Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 This is shaping up to be a really nice build. Looking at the finished underside it’s hard to believe the engine and transmission are moulded in. keep up the good work. Can’t wait to see the body in paint now.

Erik Smith Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Very nice interior. Thanks for documenting your work - I’ve got one of these to build also and this helps!

TooOld Posted February 13, 2022 Author Posted February 13, 2022 Before prepping the body for paint I pre-fit the trim items , bumpers , lights , etc . . . The grille and cowl vent required a little filing on the back edges to make them fit flush , as did the rear bumper . I also removed the molded in plate lamps from the rear bumper , opting to keep the ones on the license plate mounting bracket . This plate mount is actually too large for U.S. plates so I'll be making a new one later . Also cut and fit the glass using the clear sheet provided by C1 Models . They say to use the thick sheet but I used the thinner one to be sure there is no interference with the dashboard . With some careful trimming the glass literally pops into place and stays with no glue , of course I'll glue them in place after paint . After the body was prepped it was painted with Tamiya TS-34 Camel Yellow . Once it dries for a couple days I'll shoot some clear .
Bainford Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 Everything seems to have fitted up nicely to the resin body. Nice shade of yellow.
slusher Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 Fantastic looking interior and very nice color choice…

Spottedlaurel Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 Good to see your progress on this one. Both the Camel Yellow and Brilliant Orange remind me of colours used on the later, rubber-bumper versions like this 1981 example: The 1960s colours were softer, but with the Rostyle wheels yours would be early-mid '70s when there was another range of colours again. They were a bit more 'earth-tone', as was typical of the time. Blue might not be your choice, but here's a nice example of a 1972 GT that I saw a few years ago:

I try and avoid it on solid colours whenever I can, it depends if there's any polishing to do. Just avoid any temptation to fit a vinyl roof....

I don't normally do any polishing since BMF doesn't stick very well to polished paints . Well I spent two days on what normally would have been a one or two hour job but the foil is finally finished , I guess I'm getting the hang of this new stuff but I still don't like it . I masked and sprayed the front and rear window gaskets with Tamiya TS-82 Rubber Black , then applied a thin strip of foil for the reveal molding . Not perfect but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out . 1
Spottedlaurel Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 Nice work on the detailing, your patience paid off. I've not yet replicated a chrome strip within a rubber surround.

I've always wanted to try replicating the rubber gaskets but was always doubtful I could mask and spray the frames properly . A while ago I did it to spray some chrome trim and it worked okay so I went for it here .
