Here's a look inside the 1/16 scale Revell "Big Bad Van" Chevy custom van kit from 1977: https://modelkitreviews.proboards.com/thread/1667/revell-big-bad-chevy-custom

All of the (insert adjective here) custom parts from the van craze era are well represented in this one, from acres of diamond tufted interior panels to the flares, spoilers, mag wheels, and huge graphics for the quarter panels. Kenny Youngblood box art is a nice bonus.

That's pretty nice. I like how the entire roof comes off to show your interior work. But that fugly grill is a total deal breaker for me. Utherwise,  I would be all over it. If one of those 3d printer guys comes out with a more acceptable 1/16 aftermarket grill they will surely hit a home run with this one. Is this going to be a reissue? I don't believe I remember seeing it from years ago.

I think Revell designed this kit concurrently with their 1/25 scale version, as the parts design and breakdown is very similar in many areas, including the separate, lift-off roof panel.

I doubt it will ever be re-issued, though I would be delighted to be wrong on that. To my knowledge, it's never been re-issued, nor has the sibling Movin' Out version-- neither has been seen since 1977 or '78.

I'd love to have one of these. A quick eBay search shows they are a bit too pricey for me. There is a Revell VW panel van kit too. Same deal. Would be nice, more than I'd want to pay.

Thank you for posting Casey. I may look for a good deal on one.

Now the movin' out van seams to be more recognizable (albeit a little bizarre looking). I have seen a side door open like that.on a show only van at Carlisle years ago.and couldn't help but wonder if the paint got ruined every time they opened it onto the pavement. I don't know how the public would receive  a reissue like this today. Especially with that questionable grill. I do know I would probably buy one and worry about the grill later. Thanks for posting Casey.

got one off ebay a while back.  Unfortunately, the only part the previous owner had started was the motor/tranny, and it was incomplete and poorly done.  Been looking for a replacement i can build the way i want it.  Anyone?

If you don't mind going with aftermarket parts Texas_3D_Customs will print their stuff in about any scale you want. I had Charles do a 1/20 scale engine for a kit I have.

Anton (my name to) :) @Anton0893, I have also printed engines and soon a complete BAja fever truck it feels like at least. so thats the magic with 3d printing ? Look up my thread 1/16 C10 under WIp trucks

I remember getting the Big Bad Van as a birthday present, must have been somewhere in the 8-10 year old range at the time. I can't remember what happened to it (probably glue-bombed to death), but it would be nice to have a reasonably priced one to build.
