Next up I'm doing this Pinto. Going with as many parts as I can from the Revell GT 500 2010 model. Already cut the chassis to fit, looks like the motor drops in fine and lines up. I still have a LOT more cutting to do, but I think it's gonna work. Color, even though I'm tired of red, will be a Coke theme mixed with the double stripes of the GT 500.

Looks like fun! It reminds me of going to the drags long ago, and there was this innocent-looking powder blue Pinto with a built 2.3-liter turbo doing sub 10-sec. passes all day long.

Got the chassis sitting right where I want. Engine will fit and the hood will close. I'm going to trim down those awful bumpers, paint them body color, and do cutouts to fit the exhaust tips.

What a neat chassis.  Looks like every thing is working out.  Where did you source the chassis, sir??

This engine is going to be a tight fit! and with all that horsepower, a squirrely one to drive too!  I cut 4mm off the bottom of the inner fenderwells to make them fit, cut down shocks and dropped the motor mounts about 1mm so everything goes in.

After several iterations of sanding and filling, I shot the silver basecoat on. Next will be the green nail polish, but I need to hit the store for supplies (i.e. Lacquer thinner) first.

Nope, nobody is seeing things, no deja vue.  Nailpolish green didn't go on so well. So I had to strip and repaint. Silver base looks nice. When I get a chance, shopping trip for some good green to do that again.

Ixney on the verde.  Yea, changed my mind. I was going to go lime green. But, when I shot the coke machine, I opted to do the Pinto GT in that color too. Went on nice and smooth, comes out more red than these pics indicate. White racing stripes to continue the Coke theme...  Onward!
