nickfzr61 Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 (edited) Hello All I prefer 1/12 scale F1 but was given this kit as a Christmas present. So much easier to work on the larger scale cars. While it didn’t turn out as nice as some of the 1/24 model’s here I’m happy with it. One thing I’d like to ask. Does AMT have horrible decals or is it just me? Nearly every one one ripped on me Edited March 15, 2022 by nickyfzr 1
TransAmMike Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Looks good Nicolas. I also have this kit to do and dreading the decal application. May wind up being a stripe delete?
bisc63 Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Decals can be a pain, but boy does your green paint look nice! Chassis detail looks good, too. Pretty car!
happy grumpy Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Nice build and cool color choice. I build the Z28 full bumper recently and the decal were fine but boy this thing fought me right up to the end.
Mike C. Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Great replica of one of my favorite Motion cars of all time. Nice work on that undercarriage as well. ?
Peter Lombardo Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Very well done. The color suits it perfectly.
espo Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Great color combination and the paint finish looks nice and smooth. I think anytime you're trying to apply decales that cover this much of a model's body you will have issues. I would have to paint the accent colors. The stance looks correct for the BM Cars.
Ian McLaren Posted March 17, 2022 Posted March 17, 2022 One of my favorite 70s car, nice job on the model!
BlackSheep214 Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 I have this kit and now I’m scared hearing horror stories of the decals. How and why are they tearing/ripping? Are they ripping apart after the fact the decals are sliding off the paper easily?
Bills72sj Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 The size of the decals make it an ambitious task for 1/25. Two suggestions. Add another coat of Testors 9200 decal bonder (AFTER you have done test on unused portions of the decal sheet). 2nd, add a drop of liquid dish soap to your lukewarm decal water. It will let you move them quite awhile for perfect alignment before they set.

Bill’s suggestion below for the dish soap sounds like it would help. I used micro sol and micro set since they worked great on my 1/12 scale builds but didn’t help with these. 6 hours ago, Bills72sj said: The size of the decals make it an ambitious task for 1/25.
