ridinframe Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 While cruising around my local store I came acrossed a hot wheel mail truck and instantly thought, if I put plastic sheet in a cricut machine and cutout the blueprint of a mail truck I could build it… so I found the measurements and scaled them to 1/25 and here I am so far.. there’s LOTS of work to do but it’s kinda going in a cool direction.. not sure if it’s gonna be slammed or maybe turned into a drag car? 1
OldNYJim Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Good start! It’s gonna be fun adding all those rivets ? I saw someone on Instagram build one of these from flat sheet too, in case you need some inspiration: https://www.instagram.com/p/B5JW7mSA6Qu/?utm_medium=copy_link

Joe Handley Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Those used S-10 chassis under that Grumman bodywork, so at lease a chassis source would be easy to find, just need an Iron Duke to put under the hood!
OldNYJim Posted March 17, 2022 Posted March 17, 2022 The only particularly fiddly part of building one of these from sheet will be those radiused edges where the sides meet - but nothing that some round tube can’t fix!

You’re right! It wasn’t fun and I ended up messing up a couple sheets so I ended up going a different direction.. Edited March 18, 2022 by ridinframe
ridinframe Posted March 18, 2022 Author Posted March 18, 2022 Soo the mail truck was.. turning into a lot of work and while looking through mail truck photos one van kept coming up.. a Studebaker zip van.. so off to the cricut to cut new sheets and this one seems like it’s gonna be more fun then headache to build..
ZTony8 Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 Grumman LLVs were S-10s underneath- known by GM as a "Z" truck. So maybe start with an S-10 kit for your frame?
PatW Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 Yes, coming along nicely! I've thought of doing this but we don't get any form of your mail trucks to work from in the UK.
ghoodii Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 Interesting project....would love a larger step van offering. What thickness plastic are you using and what setting on the Cricket are you using? Any issues with the plastic shifting while cutting?
Oldmopars Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 If you have a link to the original LLV dimensions and info, I would love to have that. I plan to build one on a S-10 I picked up. I love service type vehicles and this will go good with my Pinto mail car.
