I want to finally get these two out of the stash and built, but I'm a little stuck on what colors/paints would be best. Officially, his is painted "Murano Gold" and hers is is painted "Hot Candy Pink," but trying to figure out what that translates to (vintage or current) has been an exercise in frustration. So I want to see if anyone here has any suggestions, especially interested to hear if anyone has attempted or completed this set already. I'm open to pretty much anything - rattle can, airbrush, Tamiya, ScaleFinishes, MCW, Mr.Hobby, Zero, etc. - but would like to keep it to hobby paints since I want to play it safe with this vintage plastic. Thanks in advance!

I can't tell you the colors, but this might help - Dennis Gage, My Classic car TV visits the Tammy Allen collection.

If I wanted to paint His, I'd try mixing Testor Turn Signal Amber and gloss white. See what happens.

Here's another idea: Take the best color print you can make to your local Sally Beauty store and see if you can find a match in nail polish. Might have even better luck with the pink.

I've had mixed results using nail polish in the past, hence my hesitation on going outside of hobby colors. With my luck I'd get a perfect color, test it on a scrap piece with good results, then have the 50-year-old hood craze on me. I know there's a chance for *any* paint to go sideways, I'm just looking to minimize my risk.

You could head over to Micheals and look at their craft paints. They have a bewildering array of colours. And they are cheap, so you could easily custom mix them if you can’t find one close enough.

Here's a couple of water-based solutions, both look more intense in color in the pic than they do in person, but both could be tamed to your liking with a little white:

Not sure why Createx calls the one paint Pearl Copper, it's really a very nice pale gold, heavy with fine pearl.

It's acrylic craft paint, good quality stuff, but would need to be airbrushed on something large as a car body. It is brushable for smaller parts, and covers pretty good for such a pearly color.
