Lots done, lots more to do. This is the first real mock-up, but I like how it's looking so far

The grill/surround is bonded to the body, and will be body-coloured with only the headlight buckets & hand-made tube grill being chrome. I'm using styrene-with-liquid cement as a filler, When done, the original chrome trim will look like parts of the fenders and hood.

Trying to minimize the heavy look to the front end...

The front bumper will also be body-coloured, with the bumperettes in chrome.

The rear bumper will be full-width taillights, with the license plate in the middle. Possibly thin chrome spears along the taillight width?

I'm thinking of a dark gold, with a tan leather-look interior.

Comments always welcome. :)

I like your vision. It looks much nicer than stock to me. I like your rear end treatment and how it looks sorta spaceshipesque. Playing on that a one piece tail light with a similar treatment to the grille might look cool. 20220319_144220.jpg

I would also bring the top edge of the rear bumper up slightly to bring it inline with the trim above it which could be acheived by a slight reshape to the trim along the bottom of the trunk. At the moment it looks to have a slight droop but this could be a trick of the light. This would also give you a nice body line to use if decide on fender skirts. Looking forwrd to following this

Yeah... I'm looking and looking at that rear trim line, trying to decide how to go about it. It's actually the shape of the bumper that's off: it has too much curve to it, but I'm limited in how much I can flatten it.

With the grill changes, done for a much better appearance, this doesn't look like an Imperial anymore. The trunk lid looks much better without the "Toilet Seat" on the lid.

Your "Toilet Seat" comment, David, sent me into a red-faced, gut-wrenching laughing fit that led to a COPD fueled coughing episode that caused my wife to awaken from snoring bliss and think I was dying. Thank you very much!    Seriously, though, who in Detroit thought that ridiculous thing on the trunk lid was attractive to anyone but .....anyone at all? (Well....maybe my wife ?)

Bumper might have just a little excess curvature, bout the body is blunted and too flat where the trim crosses across the back. It should be a gentle arc both upward and backward. Notice how the side trim sweeps upward as it rounds the quarter; the model is incorrectly done there, too. I would add some plastic across the rear and shape it to more closely follow the bumper line. It's a custom, so if you put a little "extra" curve there, no one can fault you! Very cool project, I've got an Imperial custom project going myself, so this really grabbed my attention. I'll post it down the road, but I've got a '58 Plymouth to whip first! Will be following...

Sorry man, that's just what we used to call them on the MoPar products of the day. Breath deep and this shall pass.

Yesterday was just about perfect for painting in my garage.

I used Vibrant Orange nail polish over grey primer, top-coated with some over-thinned 2K clear.

I'm pretty pleased with the results.

That Vibrant Orange nail polish looks really slick on the long bodied 59 Chrysler.  Looking really good.
