Mike C. Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 Foo Fighters drummer found dead in his hotel room. The cause of death has not yet been confirmed. If you are the drummer in a band with Dave Grohl as the front man you have to be good. 1
iamsuperdan Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 Was stunned when I saw the news last night. Only 50. Had his demons in the past, but seemed to have cleaned him self up over the last decade or so. Seemed like such a genuine and normal guy. https://www.ajournalofmusicalthings.com/taylor-hawkins-foo-fighters-drummer-has-died-at-age-50/
TonyK Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 And while they were on tour. Bummer. I like his influences of drummers as it says a lot about his character in my opinion.
Mike C. Posted March 26, 2022 Author Posted March 26, 2022 Never really knew that much about him but filling in for Dave Grohl on drums it quite a tall order.
Joe Handley Posted March 27, 2022 Posted March 27, 2022 I heard about that late last night or early this morning, was shocked and saddened by the news. Thought I’d post 2 favorites of the band’s on YouTube, performing with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones at Wembley Stadium some years back.
PowerPlant Posted March 27, 2022 Posted March 27, 2022 (edited) Sad news. He died in a hotel room in Bogota. Might have had a bit too much of that Colombian sugar It is interesting to see them performing Led Zeppelin songs with Page and Jones, and shows how Hawkins and Grohl occassionally changed places behind the drums/mic. I am a big fan of the Foo Fighters’ earlier stuff, and I think their late 90’s album The Colour and the Shape (on which Hawkins joined the band) is one of the best rock albums in history, with Everlong as an absolute hit for the ages. Hopefully, the band will be able to continue. Edited March 27, 2022 by PowerPlant
mikemodeler Posted March 27, 2022 Posted March 27, 2022 Latest news reports state that he had an enlarged heart that weighed about twice a normal sized one would. Also evidence of drugs in the room and in his blood stream. A real shame as he was extremely talented and Dave felt like they were brothers, I am sure this hit him hard. I am not surprised at his death and that drugs were involved, he seemed to embrace that live fast lifestyle and his overdose in London in 2001 should have been his wake up call.
BlackSheep214 Posted March 31, 2022 Posted March 31, 2022 Nope. Not “Columbia’s Sugar” Prescription drug overdose. The rest of the tour cancelled.
Smoke Wagon Posted March 31, 2022 Posted March 31, 2022 Bummer. They have made quite a lot of good songs. Would hate to see the band dissolve.

I'm surprised anybody still does that stuff anymore now that all the dealers put that fentanyl in everything now. The police have to wear a spacesuit to handle it now. Guys like this do the prescription drugs now that they have money.
OldTrucker Posted April 3, 2022 Posted April 3, 2022 Like so many others in the industry, just couldn't get that monkey off his back. Some times I wonder if the problem is maybe they really don't want it off. Have known a couple people that openly said they won't give up what they are hooked on because they like how they feel. Neither feel anything at all now.
