Dave B
The other day a mate gave me a SMER (Merit) Alfetta 158. As I already have an original 60'S built Merit kit plus another (SMER) I built around 10 years ago I decided to have a go at converting the 158 to a 159. Using an article from Motor Racing Replica News the conversion is started. It won't have photo etched wheels, like the previous 158 I built, but I have high hopes of converting a set of Italeri Ferrari 275 GTS wheels to suit. Wish me luck and tks for looking. bisc63
I'll be watching with much interest, as I have that SMER kit in the stash, and was just looking it over a couple weeks ago. l was wondering if there might be an appropriate wheel to replace the kit's wheels with. I know nothing about these cars, I just love the style. This car makes me smile just looking at it. What a great time in automotive history. rrb124@sbcglobal.net
I built my SMER Alfetta in the 90's and it is one of my favorite modelcars. Problem though is the very, very faint engraving on the nose. I didn't know what to do to try to make the grill at least look like a grill so it was simply sprayed red like the rest of the car. If they only provided a grill !
Kolu
Love this sort of modelling and your work. will be watching with interest. Like the way you have built the chassis sides out already. Please keep posting your great work.
Dave B
Coming along slowly as I have been slightly distracted, as you will see shortly. I am very happy with the body mods and wheels so I'll keep on moving along. Dave B

Eagle36
I am currently building a pair of 158s. With great reluctance, knowing that if I screwed it up, I would ruin an irreplaceable nose cone, I finally ordered the Indycals grille: https://www.indycals.net/parts/f1parts/50alfa158.html. Once the grilles came, it took awhile to talk myself into cutting into the plastic, but once I did, I was totally pleased with how easy it was to fit the grille and how great it looks once in place. Dave B
That's a great kit from Indycals Thomas, it's a pity I'm building the 159, the supercharger is quite different. Dave B
Bugatti Fan
It is amazing what some of you guys do with that very, very old originally from Merit kit. The Alfa and the Talbot Lago moulds have moved from Merit to SMER and now Atlantis. Merit had a range of 50's racing car kits besides those two. The moulds were sold on to a toy company in Italy, but to my knowledge have never been re released by them or anyone else since the Merit days.
