afx Posted April 17, 2022 Author Posted April 17, 2022 Still sorting the rear/wheel tire combination but settled on the front. 4
Dennis Lacy Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 I love your vintage drag builds, JC. Looking forward to following along! I watched the Dennis Collins episode. Very cool history on that car. 1

I got mine from the U.K. several years ago and I think it cost me around $140. at that time. crazy I know. cheers Wow those prices are insane. I was fortunate to get an unbuilt JoHan Maverick missing the decals last Summer for $40.
Bills72sj Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 Kit bashing takes some finesse. I hacked an engine bay out of a 67 GT to install into a 68 Shelby because the Shelby kit's engine bay was so lame. I also mini-tubbed another 67 GT to make a drag racer out of it. The hard part was stuffing a 427 SOHC motor in it. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/156213-1968-shelby-gt-500/ http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/155547-stalled-1967-mustang-gt-coming-back-in-the-queue/ 2
doggie427 Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 (edited) Looking great as always JC. When I read the title I immediately thought of this gasser Shelby,(even tho it’s a ‘68) Edited April 19, 2022 by doggie427 1 1

If I recall correctly SW&C converted thier '33 Willys into the Shelby. Edited April 19, 2022 by afx 2
Pierre Rivard Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 Beautiful work as always JC. I did not realize that in the MCM astrology calendar 2022 is the year of the Mustang. Keep'em coming. Love it! 1
Dennis Lacy Posted April 20, 2022 Posted April 20, 2022 I love those rear Halibrand’s from Drag City. Stance looks perfect, too!
afx Posted April 20, 2022 Author Posted April 20, 2022 (edited) I really like those wheels too Dennis but not for this project. Here is what I have chosen to use: Edited April 20, 2022 by afx 3
afx Posted April 23, 2022 Author Posted April 23, 2022 The year of the Mustang continues, picked up this Speed City Resins A/FX Long Nose kit on ebay. I understand Speed City is sold out of this kit at the moment. 1
afx Posted April 24, 2022 Author Posted April 24, 2022 (edited) Removed the stock front suspension mounts from the frame and added bracing. Edited April 24, 2022 by afx 3
