Jim B Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 Today I finished up my New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) 1972 International Paystar 5000 tractor. I had the Paystar 5000 Cement Mixer kit, but the mixer is destined for the Ertl Mack DM600. So, what to do with the Paystar 5000? I wanted to do a NYSDOT truck, but NYSDOT doesn't use Paystars; however, Onondaga County does (photos by Ryan Pedone): I used these trucks as inspiration for my fictitious NYSDOT Paystar. I shortened the mixer frame by 40mm in the middle of the frame, and by 10mm on the rear stringer. The fifth wheel came from the Mack DM600 kit, and the rear fenders are from the Revell of Germany Peterbilt Alaska Hauler (shortened to fit over two axles). The headache rack was built by a friend of mine, with the warning beacons from the AMT Ford Rescue Van, and the work lights from the Revell of Germany Kenworth T900. NYSDOT logos are from Diecast & Decals, license plates are from The Plate Shack, rear tires are from GW Trucks, and I added 1/8" screen behind the grill. I'll take some outside photos once I finish the AMT Load King lowboy. 1
Doug 1061 Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 What a beast. Looks great. I always knew there was another mixer kit, just couldn't place it. Will look good with lowboy.
Jim B Posted April 16, 2022 Author Posted April 16, 2022 Thanks. Doug. Went a little out of my comfort zone with this one.
bigred63 Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 Jim, what a Awesome looking truck you have built! I love Paystar 5000s.
gotnitro? Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 excellent work Jim ! The paystar looks perfect shortened up and built as a haul tractor. The way you filled out the headache rack really sells it too, those small spot lights, beacons, and chain hangers add those details. Very well done
Jim B Posted April 17, 2022 Author Posted April 17, 2022 Thanks, guys. I appreciate it. Jeff, the headache rack does make it unique.
Jim B Posted August 26, 2022 Author Posted August 26, 2022 Ok, so it took a while, but as promised here is the Paystar 5000 with the Load King FB34D lowboy: NY plate from The Plate Shack (sorry it's blurry) Just a little weathering Data plate from Internet photo of 1:1 trailer:
Mopar - D Posted August 29, 2022 Posted August 29, 2022 Excellent build Jim the Paystar and lowboy perfect together. 1
Jim B Posted August 29, 2022 Author Posted August 29, 2022 Thanks, guys. I kind of figured they'd be a natural fit.
leafsprings Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Great job. The front end and wheel de chroming makes this build so much more realistic looking. 1
vincen47 Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Looks like it’s ready to get working. Load ‘er up. What do you have planned for a load? 1
