throttlejockey Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 So, after spending most of the past year building semis, I decided to slow up a little. Gonna build the Revell 57 Chevy 150 utility. Not one to be happy with traditional colors, I opted to mix my own. It layed down pretty nice. Gonna add the white to the rear area after some adequate cure time. Just curious about some feedback on my primary color. I call it copper-jacketed. Thanks 3
Oldcarfan27 Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 Nice color. Kinda looks like a candy orange metallic.
ozmodeler Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 Nice color, It will work great with the off white tail & roof.
Zippi Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 The white will make your copper-jacketed pop. Nice looking so far.
throttlejockey Posted May 21, 2022 Author Posted May 21, 2022 Thanks. The color is actually made from testors gloss red with a few drops of testors copper added. Then throw it on the shaker to mix well.
rickcaps55 Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 Thats a great color i really like it and after seeing that color if it was me i would go with a dark gray for the second color the white will take away from the copper the gray will blend in more.
espo Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 I agree with everyone else on your primary color, it does look great. Since you are wanting to do a two-=tone paint job you may even consider colors other than white. There are some off whites and beiges that might look good as well. You might try some different second colors on the old picnic spoons to see if any of them look right to you. I think it looks really nice in a solid color that you have now.
TransAmMike Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 Ditto on the color A.T. As for the second color, whit ewill surely look good but if not white, I agree with "espo". Try some alternatives. By the way, what brand/type paint is that.
throttlejockey Posted May 21, 2022 Author Posted May 21, 2022 I blended up some gloss white with a little bit of cream. Provides just enough of an off white to keep it from being too bright. Thanks for all the feedback. Always like to hear different opinions before I commit. 1

All paint is testors enamel.Just the $1.99 a bottle stuff from hobby lobby. Around this area (west central Indiana) there aren't any real hobby shops to speak of anymore)

Hey, I'm in the Nashville area and there are no hobby shops.

Not a place with every hobby imaginable, but a shop with nothing but models and model related things.
Dragonhawk1066 Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 Great looking color and the white is a great contrast for it!
throttlejockey Posted May 23, 2022 Author Posted May 23, 2022 Well, calling it done as soon as I shoot some shiny stuff on it. Came out ok, I think.
