Can-Con Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 I've been threatening to start this one for years. Time has come. Got in a box of builtups almost 20 years ago. Got it in a big zip-loc bag with Easy-off last weekend so we'll see exactly what's what with it maybe tomorrow. Looks like a Revell '30 body with a '29 cowl grafted on. I'll be able to tell better with the paint stripped off and it blown apart. It'll make a nice commercial hot rod,, or more specifically, "Street Machine". 1
Zippi Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 That's going to be a nice project Steve. I've never really taken a kit apart before. How would one go about this without breaking the parts?
espo Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 This should be interesting to follow along. I think at one time Revell offered a '29 sedan that had an option of a filler panel for the side windows to make a sedan delivery. This looks like it already has a rear opening door so it may have been a delivery from the start.

Can-Con Posted May 30, 2022 Author Posted May 30, 2022 Well, it's all apart. Still some paint still being stubborn so back in the oven cleaner it goes. I have a couple fresh frames so I won't bother trying to work with this one. So, here's what I seem to have. Main body and doors and floor,, I'm pretty sure are from the Revell '31 sedan delivery. Fender unit, hood, radiator and chassis are AMT '29 Roadster. Cowl, AMT Ala Cart. windshield, dash and firewall,, seem to be MPC '29 Woodie/pickup. I'm not bothering with that cowl assembly either. It's pretty rough. I'm going to use the cowl, dash and windshield from the roadster pickup cab in the MPC '29 kit that was just issued. No point in messing with roached out old BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH when I have brand new parts I can swap in that I'd probably never use otherwise. 3

I've had some where I had to get out the razor saw and cut them apart.

Not exactly sure what you're asking Carl. But, yes, I'm gonna get the rest of the paint off that I can and rebuild it into a rod using the unique parts there and some new replacement parts. 1
Can-Con Posted June 18, 2022 Author Posted June 18, 2022 So, here's that it looks like all taped together. Should turn out fine but I wonder if I'd be better off just getting a '29 sedan delivery body from Jimmy Flintstone. It would be more accurate in the side panel area and it's only $10USD. But, I'mm gonna keep hacking away at this old thing as I already have it. ? 1
