Got the Future (the original stuff I still have) on the 914.  Won't polish it for several days.

Looking good, Mike. Thats the car everybody in the early 70's wanted, but none of us could afford it. It was supposed to be the affordable Porsche. $8600 back then was still a pretty hefty price. I bought a brand new 1973 Dodge Charger SE and it was $3995.00. That was with the 400 2barrel, but you could get a 440 for $4500.00. I couldn't come up with the extra cash to get one of those.

Thank you Mark. I know what your saying about the extra money to upgrade. Wanted a 71 4-4-2 but had to settle for a Cutlass S tho I did add the ram air hood, the HO 350 and dual exhaust.

I almost bit the bullet on a used 914-6 in late '70 but passed on it. The owner took me for a test ride and took a 360 degrees off ramp and scared the he!! outta me?

Mike, your story reminds me of the time my dad's friend Bob Mungle showed up from Florida with a brand new 1965 Shelby Mustang GT 350. They had just finished Nasa Road 1 and he took me on a mind-blowing ride from Seabrook to Webster and back again at 10 at night when absolutely no one was on the road but us.  I doubt if we got below 80 on the whole trip, and back then the only cops were probably at home asleep. They had to pry my fingers off the dash to ger me out of the car. After that trip my dream car was a Mustang Shelby GT 350 but I could never find or afford one. My dad did buy a 67 plain jane Mustang with a 289 and 3 on the floor transmission that I could drive after I got my license, when I turned 16. That was a fun car but nothing like that Shelby Bob had. I did end up getting a 1968 427 Corvette convertible for $1995.00 in 1972. It had a lot of things wrong with it and it was brute of a car to drive. It too was mind blowing fast but you could hardly stop the thing.

Sounds like that was fun and I could sure see you wanting a Gt350. I've had a few 'Vettes but the one that scared me the most was a' 71 454 4-speed that the the guy I bought it from put a hotter cam in. It had the factory size tires and was super squirrly.

Awwww, the good ole days.

For anyone that has built this model and it came out good and without very many issues I comment you.  For anyone contemplating building it all I can say is, good luck.

Just my 2-cents?

I'm tuned in to this one ol' buddy. Got any updates on her?

Well I do appreciate you're looking Joe.  If this model wasn't a present from my Daughter it would be back in the box and forgotten.  I'm gonna get it done but definately won't be one I'm proud of the result.

Since they never ran this thing in Nascar or Trans Am, I dont think i will be picking one up any time soon. Cmon, Mike, this can't be near as hard as that Corvette was to build.  You've got this.

Ha, as I type this I'm squeezing the body together on a part I had to re-glue after tearing it apart to try to get the twist out of the body?

I never could stand a body with a twist or any sign of bing warped"…

There's alot of it out there and I'm with you on that Carl. I learned a hard lesson a few builds back.

Looking good Mike. That future gives a really nice shine.

I appreciate you guys' comments.    I got most of the warp out and all 4 tires touching.  I just can't do anymore with it.   Someone said this is a challenging kit....yeah, no kidding.

Well Buddy, when you've given it your all on a kit that is known for major issues, then there's nothing more you can do.  I think it will look fine.
