A modeler named mike Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Successful or not I'd have to question it and you would too if you saw the kids of an old co-worker.. 1
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 (edited) Co-worker shirking and hiding somewhere with the smartphone is becoming ever more common. Edited May 25, 2024 by Ace-Garageguy 1
A modeler named mike Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Common misconceptions are habitually uttered by those who are complicit in keeping individuals uninformed causing an abundance of stupidity to those to unable to use common sense. 1
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Sense of the common variety is remarkably uncommon.
A modeler named mike Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Desirable uncommon kits were becoming increasingly hard to snag until the pandemic and hard times hit causing some collections to be liquidated, sadly but respectfully I checked off about a dozen kits that was on my list, I always sent a heartfelt note to the individual selling their loved ones kits.
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 (edited) Kits of railroad equipment manufactured in the '40s and '50s, mainly of the "craftsman" variety that are close to scratchbuilding, are the subject of much of my collecting interest at the moment. Edited May 25, 2024 by Ace-Garageguy 1
A modeler named mike Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Moment in time is how it felt as I would crouch down to track level and eye up the stream engine and her line of freight being pulled slowly down the tracks through the pounds of plaster and chicken wire mountains on my old layout. 1
mk11 Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Layout of dad's would often grow to fill available space; often a large percentage of basement.
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 (edited) Basement layouts are great if you have a dry one, attic layouts are great if you can keep them cool in summer, but garage (or in another dedicated building) layouts at ground level are the best. Edited May 25, 2024 by Ace-Garageguy
mk11 Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Best (and last) one he had was in a walkout lower floor.

GLMFAA1 Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 MOR= Modeling On Retirement. Fact or fiction can you build all your stash during retirement.
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 "Retirement" means different things to different people, and it's not always unlimited free time...depending of course on an individual's personal choices. 1
A modeler named mike Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Choices can also be made while your arm's being twisted, so to speak by overly needy family and friends that are always in need of professional results at minimum cost. 1
JollySipper Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 'Control freak' is what a lot of race car drivers get called, which kinda makes sense if thought about....... 3
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 About time for logic, rationality, and common sense to make a big comeback. 1 1
slusher Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Comeback is what many professional athletes do after an injury or early retirement.. 1
NOBLNG Posted May 26, 2024 Author Posted May 26, 2024 Retirement is something that I thoroughly enjoy.
A modeler named mike Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Frank in bun and cheeseburgers are memorial day party favorites.
