Desirable uncommon kits were becoming increasingly hard to snag until the pandemic and hard times hit causing some collections to be liquidated, sadly but respectfully I checked off about a dozen kits that was on my list, I always sent a heartfelt note to the individual selling their loved ones kits.

Kits of railroad equipment manufactured in the '40s and '50s, mainly of the "craftsman" variety that are close to scratchbuilding, are the subject of much of my collecting interest at the moment.

Moment in time is how it felt as I would crouch down to track level and eye up the stream engine and her line of freight being pulled slowly down the tracks through the pounds of plaster and chicken wire mountains on my old layout.

Layout of dad's would often grow to fill available space; often a large percentage of basement.

Basement layouts are great if you have a dry one, attic layouts are great if you can keep them cool in summer, but garage (or in another dedicated building) layouts at ground level are the best.
