dougwintz Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 (edited) Although I like to build rally cars with a lot of decals and interesting livery, I think the hardest thing for me to do is build a box stock model, because everything shows. I keep learning new things, the latest of which is to make sure the surface of the trim is smooth so when you apply foil it gives you a smooth finish. Still trying to do better on that. Attached is the 1966 Mercury Parklane, which had a lot of fitment problems, and the 1961 Pontiac Ventura. Edited September 10, 2022 by dougwintz 6
BeakDoc Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 Nice looking builds. Foil job looks pretty dang good to my eye. It can be some tricky stuff to work with. I have to zen myself out and slip between 2 different planes of existence when I tackle a big foil job.

Slipping between 2 planes of existence sounds like a good idea. For anything!
bisc63 Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 Great looking collection! I like your taste in colors; that green Pontiac looks especially nice. Very nicely done.

bbowser Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 Know what you mean about smooth trim. Yours all look great, that Pontiac is to die for!
espo Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 Great looking colors and cleanly trimmed and detailed looking builds. The Mercury color looks almost the same as a popular Fomoco color of that era. The '61 Pontiac be it a 1:1 or this kit is a favorite and the color looks great as well. I like the Chrysler in youir display cabinet.
rsmodels Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 Doug, we all have room for improvement. These two models look great to me and also the others showing in your photos. I really like 61 Pontiacs and have a 1:1 65 Mercury wagon so really appreciate your showing these.
Leica007 Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 Really beautiful Pontiac, especially the color; impressive interior on both of them. Nice detail engine compartments, also. Good job!
dougwintz Posted September 13, 2022 Author Posted September 13, 2022 Thanks for the comments everybody. Appreciate it. Reply to "ESPO" - the color is Testor's One Coat, Fiery Orange. It is a pretty good match for factory.
