'56 Fairlane Mild Custom.....

Here's what I've been working on the past couple days! It's the latest release of this kit. I had different wheels in mind before, but when I saw how the factory wheels looked in the wide whites, I decided to go with them. Tires are from the Monogram '56 Thunderbird. Skirts are from the '49 Ford coupe. Plan is for a mild custom, of course! Hopefully I can get the stance like I want it, which would be a little lower in the rear...........

Looking forward to seeing what you do with this kit TJ. I plan to give my 56 Victoria a rebuild one day. My cat knocked it off the shelf 😖. That wheel & tyre combination looks good.

Cheers, David. 😎👍

I've been working on these seats lately........ From the mold, they have a really rough texture on the backs. I wanted them smooth and shiny, like they were made of finished fiberglass or something. All I did was to prime and sand (mostly prime heavily...) until they were smooth. The color doesn't show that great, it's Dark Garnet from DupliColor.

As soon as the clear dries I can mask the backs and paint the fronts white.....

That's what I have for now, except that I've been cleaning up the body parts of flash and such. Not a lot of cleanup on the body, as old as this kit is.....

I just brush painted the inside of the seats. I didn't want to risk ruining the paint on the outsides....... Also, I put some chrome strips on the fronts. I'll be putting 5 or 7 strips of foil down the roof (like was popular in the late '50s......... ) and I wanted to tie it in somehow with the interior.

Thanks, David for the comment!

Today was primer day, after a good bit of cleaning the body parts of flash and such. The primer didn't turn out as uniform as I would like, so this will get wet sanded with #2000 and some soapy water, then hopefully one more coat should even things out.....

That's where I am today! I hope you guys enjoy looking in......
