Bullybeef Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 (edited) Cracked open a fresh 1997 release of the classic ford roadster, going for a nice channelled clean look. already added a nice Zed to the frame and deleted the small block engine and trans mounts, broke out the old add a flathead install kit, some styrene stock and bam. the wheels and tires are from the partsbox, pretty sure they are from the Lil coffin. Current engine is for mock-up purposes. I’ll be working on the grill shroud and radiator for matching the channelled body for height. Edited October 21, 2022 by Bullybeef 7
Bullybeef Posted October 11, 2022 Author Posted October 11, 2022 Getting the body and rad shell lined up. 4
customline Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 Two things, Bil. 1) do you plan to section the grille shell or just drop it? ? 2) Is your house full of paper crafting equipment like mine is ( your cutting mat has the tell-tale sign )

And no, no crafting, when the cost of a modelling cutting mat is almost 3 times the cost of a craft mat, frugalness ensues. 1
Calb56 Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 Like this a lot so far. Really digging the tire/wheel combo. 1

But she did give me my first cutting mat and, for that......I'm grateful. I agree about (not)sectioning the grille. It has its applications but not on a deuce highboy, certainly. But having said that, you can't have it dragging on the pavement. I have run into this situation trying to get a low stance with a channelled body and had to section it. Or start over ?. Anyway, thank you for choosing a flathead. I'll be following. 1
rrb124@sbcglobal.net Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 This going to be fun and helpful to watch. I have had the same kit in my stash forever. Thanks for this. 1

Bullybeef Posted October 12, 2022 Author Posted October 12, 2022 @customlineI think this might give you an idea of where I’m headed 5
customline Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 It looks like you're gonna be okay on the grille, Bil. Is that intake manifold the 3d piece? It's awesome! Where can I get one? I made one from evergreen and it looks like ?.

The manifold and the heads are 3D, I had a local friend print them for me, I’m sure iceman collections has some as well. I just sent my last full set of parts to @chris chabre

What is the source for the headers in this picture? Wow that’s a compliment and a half ? To be honest I’m not 100%sure I think they are from the early revell ford f100 that had the ardun heads, I know I added the dumps to them, they are currently in the next in line for work on the bench to get rid of the seam. Ill have som progress pics here soon, been home sick for a day or so so I’ve been between the bench and the couch (seasonal cold/flu , nothing serious) 1
Bullybeef Posted October 14, 2022 Author Posted October 14, 2022 The headers/dumps are welding together with sprue glue, you can see that I’ve used the fact that it gets stringy, I wrapped the “strings” around the seam, once it fully cures I can then smooth it out. Body parts are prepped for the final “colour” coat. 3
