Hi Greg, awesome to see this one back on the bench. Love the direction you are taking on the body work. Brilliant work on the taillight area! Those rear wheel arches look great with the lip added and skirts removed, good call. Great engineering and execution throughout sir.

Cheers, Steve

Thanks everyone. I wasn’t liking that green paint anymore, so I decided on a new color scheme and did some extra detailing on the interior.🙂IMG_9833.thumb.jpeg.e5c40880fd21e5994bb0fb5c55b7a0d6.jpeg

I scrounged through my parts box for hours looking for a set of wheels and tires that would fit and look Ok.🥴 Then I sifted through my unbuilt kits and came up with the ones from the Foose Impala. The rears fit straight on with a tiny sleeve of styrene tube. The front I had to lower and make new spindles from .156” evergreen…but the ride height is now set.🥵IMG_9837.jpeg.6e2f6760bae6a7daa67137a63fdd81a0.jpeg

I drilled out some of my cast brake rotors to fit the Foose rims, and fabbed up some rudimentary caliper brackets. The brakes will barely be visible through the wheels, but I figured I should have something there. That’s all for now Folks…on to the engine bay.🤔IMG_9839.thumb.jpeg.1f932f02577668ef283057da5c886a47.jpeg

Thanks Guys!😎

Just tidying up some details so I don’t get ahead of myself which I quite often do.🤔 Made up some amber turn signal lens just because I wanted to try it.

Edit: I hated that lighter…it had next to no flame height, and the flint wore out way before the butane was finished.🤪

IMG_9915.thumb.jpeg.99334f191b0fe57c50511053490e15fa.jpeg

I re-routed my tailpipes and made up some tips for them from aluminum tubing.IMG_9924.thumb.jpeg.94d461087410cd90548984dced770ae4.jpeg

I also got a better rear bumper made up using some .156” half round and a strip of .030” for some extra depth. Glueing the two pieces together while clamped to the body also helped to keep the proper curvature set.🙂IMG_9928.thumb.jpeg.4a4e103a216272f8c329a647ded0ef7a.jpeg

IMG_9931.thumb.jpeg.d71e64ec7de50749632aa9499a80e07f.jpeg

And I got the wheels detailed. The rears are epoxied in place and I’ll do the fronts shortly. The tape marks the position of the calipers so that I get them clocked to roughly the same position.IMG_9934.thumb.jpeg.f1fd7a9a56c017cf3f31695af97e4507.jpeg

I finally got a decent coat of paint on this one. I kept getting little bits of trash on the color coats. I bought a screen to filter the paint going into the cup and that solved the problem.😎 Then a few coats of Mr. Hobby clear straight from the can. Now I’m going to try my hand at polishing it a bit before any more assembly.😬

More painting, Greg stop rubbing it in.🙁 I can't wait for the rain to stop.

Actually it looks quite nice. I tried to build one a similar color years ago, never quite made it, I'll have to try again someday.

Hi Greg! Those wheels look really nice. The body colour accents in the wheels is going to look killer! Looking forward to seeing how this all comes together. 2 “side notes” I thought you were busy beating a 41 Plymouth into submission? Second, every single WIP thread of yours, I see some other magical way to clamp things together. You are the master of inventive clamping!!

Cheers, Steve

Really great work, Greg…

Thanks Guys! I did a bit of polishing on the body and it could likely use a bit more…but here’s some mock up pics.🙂

Very interesting build. I wasn't sure where you were going at first by the thread title but I gotta say you are blending this together nicely, like it was meant to be.

A marriage made in Heaven. Totally amazing, Greg. Great vision. 👍

Thanks Guys!🙂 I’m nearly done with it. I got the front and rear lights finished. The canopy glue I used for the tail lights hasn’t dried fully yet…it may take awhile. The backup lights I cut from a windshield washer jug to get the frosted look, and the reflectors are X-27 clear red.

I closed off the area in front of the radiator for better airflow and so you can’t see the ground when to look at the engine bay.

Thanks for lookin’!😎IMG_1366.thumb.jpeg.135a914b90e20455bfa18f5ad5bfb500.jpeg
