Got some of my ebay purchases in today including these fuel cells. Thinking of leaving out the the passenger seat and mounting the big one in its place like a real cannonball car did a few years ago in a rental mustang

I remember reading about that.  Looks good.  That cooler in the background is pretty cool too.

Primer party !!!

I used the rear rolled valance and the custom front end, cut the chrome grille and headlights from the chrome front bumper...mudded all into place

Removed all side trim and badges

And then you take a truck cab with a huge transmission tunnel and realize ther is no space ?glad I could have the auxiliary tanks extended in the “original” C5R place

Y'all are moving right along.  Already in primer and all I have done is the side markers filled and trim and panel lines made smooth....no engine,. No glass,. 3/4 of an interior, no tires or wheels, and an unmodified chassis.   So much to do!!PXL_20230110_234929388.jpg.7644fa7c7cb74c09bcf7fef7436db10f.jpg

Got the engine all done and installed. Went with a lighter, high winding small block instead of a thirstier big block. Parts box long tube headers, parts box mystery high rise intake (its sbc for sure just no idea from what kit), parts box carb and valve covers. Wrapped the headers, added wiring, fuel line, and dipsticks.

Got lucky today. I slipped down icy steps bringing in some parts i painted in my garage last night. I found everything but one shock.  I figured it was lost in the 2 feet of snow but low and behold i found it today at lunch

Haven’t made much progress on the 56 but I did find a big block, I don’t know what kit it came out of but just for the fun of it I’m calling it a 496 because I like the way it sounds. I was also able to find a t56 that I believe came from a viper and for some reason I decided to try and fit a tunnel ram with 2 Holley dominator type carbs all under the hood

i obviously still have a long way to go but now that I have the motor somewhat figured I have a general idea of where I’m going. I am going to be building a BIG fuel cell to feed the big block, I’ve found a Dana 60 out of a dart that I’ll run in the rear probably 4 linked to handle the power and I’ve decided to stick with the sleeper look inside and out with bench seats, steel wheels and either black like my original inspiration photos or weathered/rough like my GTO from 2021

While i wait for my modified fuel cell to dry, i started experimenting with scratch building front and rear spoilers out of brass. Kind of going for an old school trans-am series - pro-touring hybrid

'53 FORD VICTORIA

Since I decided to build a Cannonball 2023 entry I have been a little obsessed with making the planned modifications of which I think the most involved have been done. All lower body trim has been removed and areas filled as necessary. The wheelwells have been raised but the stock shape retained. The bumpers were dechromed and guards removed. [Interesting to find that the chrome was plated over black plastic]. In front an air dam with splitter was added below the bumper. Out back a lip spoiler was installed on the trunk. The interior has the custom seats and console from the AMT 57 Ford. The suspension was lowered using parts from the Revell '57 Chev which feature big brakes. The optional wheels and tires from the kit are also used. I will be putting this model on the back burner for awhile to finish the model I was working when when this project came up.

And just like that... No more back seats.

Figure I will just cover up the previous owners affection for glue.

Got the modified fuel cell all assembled. The fuel neck will be accessed through the quarter glass. The smaller line is the vent, its looped incase of a rollover

Debating on running this external oil cooler i built. Thoughts?

Cool, typical JDM. ? On a nova you probably could fit it behind the grill since there is space.

I'll come out and play...

Just ordered this one, so still awaiting delivery but I think this will be a good kit to start with. I've got files for an engine bay and an RB26 engine I can 3D print along with some interior items I can add too, but outside I'll keep it pretty stock looking, cause it's already a wicked looking car without any help, IMO probably one of the best looking cars from the late 90's early 2000's.

613fFLZi59L._AC_SL1005_.jpg.96b06611e8a2cd54483c3fb5996834b6.jpg

Since the outside will be stock(ish) to give it a bit more personality I think a custom colour will be in order. I found this shot recently and thought the colour really makes this car pop. So I'll be going with something like this.

325737134_436871578565670_2476678570613195826_n.jpg.af8665f1c2269737a21a93bd6d64006a.jpg

Not sure if I'll go black or bronze on the wheels, as both will look good.

Lots of great progress on some really cool builds already and only 2 weeks into the year. Looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with this year.

I got started on the FRC corvette, I started out by glueing the hard top in place and the removing the excess hatch from the inside. I also added the rear quarter flares to help with the wide tires. Then I used filler and resin to seal up the part lines for the roof and hatch, along with the vents on the deck.
