Engine 51 Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 I did this car as a throwback to my childhood. My parents ordered the inspiration for this build in early 1964, and I have many fond memories of riding in this car. I was never crazy about the color, but I’m guessing my mom was the one that selected it. The build is box stock, as all I wanted was a model that captured the car as I remember it. Thanks for looking. 7
Plowboy Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 Nicely done Joe! I think the color combo really suits it! This is the first one I've seen that makes me want one. 1
espo Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 Great clean looking showroom style build. Like seeing them the way they were when new. Building a model of a car with memories like this is fun and you get to remines a little. 1
Joe Nunes Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 Now this is a very nice and clean build and the color combination is a winner. ? Joe 1
TransAmMike Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 Great looking build Joe. Color and your paint job look great. I get great satisfaction doing models that replicate former personal and family cars. 1
Engine 51 Posted December 29, 2022 Author Posted December 29, 2022 Thanks to everyone for the kind words. This car went into the strip tank twice….but it turned out ok in the end. And as was mentioned by several of you, it was a very satisfying experience building this car from my past. Next, I’m going to build the first new car I ever had.
AMT68 Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Great shine and very nice foil work on the side trim.
TooOld Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 Well done Joe , that's a beautiful Cutlass ! Back in '64 I probably wouldn't have liked that color either (our '60 Dodge was bright red !) but now that pale blue looks really nice .
