Flintstone '50 Oldsmobile sedan delivery

This body is fairly easy to work with but it ain't a snap kit! The interior and chassis from the donor coupe fit nicely after some trimming, as well as the grille and headlight areas needed some work for the parts to fit. I was upset because the donor hood was way off, and would be a real hassle to fix it...then I found a resin hood in the box that fit near perfect. I discovered with resin bodies, weak primer and paint will not stick very well, even though I sanded it and washed it well. Some of it came off the body while removing some tape for two toning. I ended up just holding a piece of thin cardboard and giving it a freehand shot.

Nice looking 50 Olds Sedan Delivery.  I'm liking the green.  Nice looking wheels & tires and the stance looks right on.  I'm just not a big fan of resin due to the issues you speak of and parts are brittle.  Don't ask me how I know.

Beautiful looking paint work. I'm a big fan of this basic kit and like the sedan delivery body option. Great looking engine and chassis. Consider using automotive self-etching primer on and resin parts. The normal model paints don't seem to adhere to the resin bodies as well as plastics.

The Flintstone bodies I just received came with very specific instructions to use tire cleaner for the wash and automotive primer for the first coat. They stated that model paints will not stick for the primer. Once the auto primer is on then it says use whatever you want over it.

That's the same process that I have used on the resin bodies I have built. The reason most caster suggest the tire cleaner is to remove the mold release that the casters use. I have had good results with Dawn Dish Soap as well. Another thing to think about when doing any type of sanding of the resin bodies is to do it away from the general work area. As I understand it the resin dust can contaminate the plastic parts and give you problems with painting. I would also suggest wearing a simple Covid type mask to protect your lungs and maybe even some safety glasses of some type. Love both of your deliveries.

That turned out quite nice. The metallic green makes it pop. Nice work, resin can be a challenge.
