Dave B Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 (edited) Lance Reventlow entered a T61 Cooper powered by an aluminium V8 at Sandown Park in Australia for a one off formula libre race. I'm pretty sure it remained in Aus but converted back to Coventry power Dave B Edited February 18, 2023 by Dave B typo

Pierre Rivard Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Yup, that transporter is definitely one of my all time favorite builds. Simply fabulous. Now Mr. McNutt back to the Lola please?
Gramps46 Posted February 21, 2023 Author Posted February 21, 2023 Back to the Lola. After 3 failed attempts to lay down a straight racing stripe with some decal paper and failing t was time to break out my old Badger 100, some tape and go for it. Should have done this in the first place. Duh!!! 4
Gramps46 Posted February 25, 2023 Author Posted February 25, 2023 (edited) Was able to get a little more done. Still need to do the tiny stuff and finish off the windows. Just noticed because the body is not attached to the chassis yet the stance is not correct and the gap between the body and chassis will be fixed. Edited February 25, 2023 by Gramps46 4
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 Good looking build of a historically important and often overlooked car.

For those that don't know Rick is a hands on 1:1 expert on Cobras and GT40s. And I know Allen Grant, who owns a MK 6. Always loved that car. Took my 1/32 Monogram slot car and using a Car Model or Model Car Science magazine article, modified it have the flared fenders of the reworked Mecom car. I ruined a great car!
Pierre Rivard Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 Well done Gary, looks the part with the picture of the real car behind it. Is this from this car that the GT40 chassis was developed ?
Gramps46 Posted February 25, 2023 Author Posted February 25, 2023 The simple answer is. Details will follow.

The valve covers are upside-down, on a Ford Windsor engine the taper is narrower at the top and wider at the bottom. Not the first time this has happened... Whoever started this kit got it wrong too; aided and abetted by IMC casting the letters upside down in the first place Of course, they're not supposed to be glued onto the 427 block either, but... Love to see this project coming along so nicely. Hope you don't mind my adding some history from the may '63 Sports Car Graphic... Edited February 27, 2023 by mk11 1
Gramps46 Posted February 27, 2023 Author Posted February 27, 2023 Thank you Rick for posting this article. I do have the Sports Car Graphic but had forgotten about the article. When I post the under glass thread I will add more detail on the development of the MK 6 GT and its impact on the GT40. 1
Thom Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Is there any way reformat that article to make it easier to read or download?
