ModelcarJR Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 (edited) I put the Mustang on hold to get another body painted while the weather is nice. Might rain tomorrow. I got this kit from my son's father-in-law who found it in Storage Locker when he was cleaning it out so he gave it to me. As the sticker says it was sold at Wal-Mart for $6.96. Another sticker says the date was in 1991. There are not many parts and I thought this one would be one I could paint quickly and have it ready to build later. But the body on this one was in terrible shape. I hope the new re-issue of this Monogram kit is in better shape this one. Sink marks at the rear taillight housing on the inside of the fender, another at the bottom of the trunk. Sprue attachments at the bottom of the trunk in the trunk line. The doors/front fenders were bulging at the seams and had flash. The door lines and trunk lines need to be re-scribed. And the front fenders around the headlights were a little sunken. I fixed as much as I could and the painted the body with Dupli-Color Ebony Black. I also painted the other parts since there weren't many. I will try using the Revell decals with the interior, keeping in mind that this is a 1/24 kit and the Revell is 1/25. The paint looks pretty good except that the paint beaded up on the front stainless. Hopefully, I can just sand that out and then foil. Here are a few photos. Thanks for looking! Don't know how I missed this flash! Edited March 3, 2023 by ModelcarJR copy 5
David G. Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 So far, so good. Best of luck with the rest of the build. I can't wait to see where you go with it. David G.
ModelcarJR Posted March 2, 2023 Author Posted March 2, 2023 (edited) Thanks, Carl and David! I appreciate your comments! I decided to rub this one out before returning to the Mustang and this one is about 3/4 done. Still have some work on the left side and the hood. Not perfect but looks OK. I don't know what happened with the front fender stainless. Looks like it was added after it came out of the mold. Thanks for looking! Edited March 2, 2023 by ModelcarJR Add another comment
ModelcarJR Posted March 3, 2023 Author Posted March 3, 2023 (edited) Thanks, Bob and David! I appreciate your comments! Finished the foil on the body. Doesn't look too bad considering all the challenges with this body. I'll add the paint on the stainless at completion and set this aside for a bit to finish the Mustang! Thanks for looking! ? Project510 Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 This was the very first model kit mom ever purchased for me as a kid! Wish I still had it! Good luck on the build!
ModelcarJR Posted March 4, 2023 Author Posted March 4, 2023 Thanks, Ray, Jeremy, James and Mike1 I appreciate your comments! ?
David G. Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 The foil looks nice and smooth. It's all coming together quite nicely. David G.
mrmike Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 Looking good John! I'm building one as Mike Finnagan's Blasphemi with a Hemi engine. Right now it is on hold as I work out some issues I have with the model.
