Well....I had the body in the purple pond for a couple day and the paint wouldn't come off so I put it in 90% Isopropyl Alcohol and it still wouldn't come off so I gave up. It was Tamiya TS paint.
Zippi Posted March 25, 2023 Author Posted March 25, 2023 I got some paint on the tube chassis once I got a lot of the tubes cut off the top section. Got the 4 piece hood assembled and I have the known issue with the hood sticking up in the center at the back by the windshield but that may not be a problem once I cut the hood for the Big ole Hemi to stick out and breath. Tailgate has been assembled and glued in place as well. 1
Zippi Posted March 26, 2023 Author Posted March 26, 2023 I got a little of the tube chassis put together today. Since I shortened the chassis in the rear I had to shorten the trailing arm and I still have more to shorten. I need to make a mount for the rear shocks as the attachment points were cut off due to it being part of the roll cage that was removed. 1
Zippi Posted March 27, 2023 Author Posted March 27, 2023 Did a little mock-up to make sure things are still where they should be and it looks right. I'm liking where its at. Need to build that Big ole Hemi next and see how it's going to fit before I go any further. 2
bluestringer Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 Looking good Bob. Where did you get the frame?

Zippi Posted March 31, 2023 Author Posted March 31, 2023 I got the Iceman Collections BIG Honking Hemi Blown engine painted and partially assembled. I did a trial fit and all looks good so far. Lot of detailing to do yet. It's just what I want with a big ole engine sticking out of the hood. 2
1930fordpickup Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Looks great. Bob you can always put that blue cab and box on a Blazer frame. Just a shorter version of this one.

While trying to check out I noticed I was being charged $6 for every item I had in my cart. I was not about to pay $54 shipping + tax on 9 items that would fit in a box half the size of of a cigar box. I'll have to come up with something else I guess. when ordering multiple on ebay (from Joel or any other seller), when youre done adding to your cart, there is a "request an invoice" link that will send the seller a note to combine all the shipping into one sum for all your items...Ive bought TONS of stuff from him and I will say its all very high quality

Zippi Posted April 1, 2023 Author Posted April 1, 2023 (edited) I think the Hemi is 95% done. Need to do a little black wash on the transmission and some touch up here and there. Update: The Hemi has been installed and both drive shafts fitted to the transfer case. Looks like a hole will need to be cut in the interior tube for the transmission. Edited April 1, 2023 by Zippi 1
Zippi Posted April 4, 2023 Author Posted April 4, 2023 Got the body painted with the Tamiya X-10 Gun Metal. I guess I used a dark primer on the 49. They look totally different. 1
Zippi Posted April 4, 2023 Author Posted April 4, 2023 Ok...did a little mock-up and the color is starting to look a little better. Maybe once the decals are on it will take away from all the bight Gun Metal. 3

Zippi Posted April 5, 2023 Author Posted April 5, 2023 I decided to NOT shoot any clear on the body as it was already to shinny for me. I hit it with a little cutting compound and polish. I got a little of the assembly and detail work done. Tomorrow with be decals. I'm getting close on this one. 2
