Snake45
For about 20 years now I've wanted to kitbash the Revell '67 Chevelle with their '66 El Camino to get a '67 El Camino. Being basically lazy, I've never gotten around to it. Couple months ago I see that Jada is coming out with a “Fast & Furious” '67 Elky, and I figgered the reasonable price was worth a gamble. You can read my out-of-box review of the thing here, where I discuss size, scale, shape accuracy, overall look, and so forth: Didn't take but some first-degree Snake-Fu to get it up to my shelfworthy standards. Sanded the tire treads, painted white behind the headlights and front turn signals, black-detailed the grille, and so forth. The black-spoked wheels didn't look bad, but just for a little variety I painted the spokes a dark steel acrylic. Also “chromed” the rear wheel rims with my beloved Deco-Color Premium silver leaf marker, which looks about 95% as good as Molotow at 1/3 the price, dries much faster, and is much more durable. Worst part of the whole job turned out to be touching up the “chrome” bed and window trim with Silver Sharpie. Oh, almost forgot, I “thinned down” the chrome vent window frames by overpainting about half of their thickness with flat black. “Not fun but it had to be done.” This is only my second completed model since my stroke almost exactly one year ago. I really dig the wheels/tires, stance, and overall look of the thing. It just might be my all-time favorite diecast—at least today. Thanks for looking, and, as always, comments welcome.
espo
The improvements on the grill and the wheels and tires made a big difference in how this Die Cast looks.

Ace-Garageguy
Good looking trucklet. Really wish I had a real one. The work you did on the vents makes a huge improvement in the initial impression it makes, much more than I'd have imagined. Nice fu-job overall.
Kenmojr
Great detailing on this diecast. I have a few Jada and the scale and cartonish looks have always been a turnoff, but this El Camino appears to be an exception. Many thanks for sharing this...
Hmann68
Looks great Snake! One tough looking’Camino! Those rims look good, I’ll have to check into those pens you mentioned, Molotow is great but pricey. Sorry you had health issues, sure glad you’re ok and building again. Model on! 😊😊😊👍👍

alan barton
I always enjoy your stuff, Snake, and have always had a soft spot for El Caminos so this works perfectly for me. Sorry to hear of your stroke, well done for bouncing back! Cheers Alan
ewetwo
Hey Snake. Sorry. I didn't know about the stroke. Hope you are all well again. I've been a bit preoccupied as we are dealing with lympomic cancer and it's been a night mare. Numerous trips and stay in Boston to go to Dana Farber. We almost get to the final phase of treatments and then life throws in a monkey wrench into the mix and we have to start all over from scratch. Be well and motor on. :-). TooOld
That looks really nice , well done Snake ! Not bad at all for a diecast but we really could use a '67 kit from somebody . . . maybe I'll gave it a shot .
