Sidney Schwartz Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 I think the best thing I can say about this one is that I'm glad it's done with. I didn't do a very good job of it, and on top of that the kit has way too many miniscule and/or delicate parts...lots of time spent having to fix broken parts. While the fit was generally very good, I just couldn't get the wheels on straight and as a result the body is not level. There are a number of things that seem unnecessarily complicated, and there seems to be little sense to which chrome parts come already chromed and which have to be painted. I also don't care for the "dull" chrome. The interior came out very nicely but the body not so much, and that's entirely my fault. Anyway, on to the next one. Thanks for looking. 6
espo Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Followed your struggles with this kit and the basic kit you had to work with. The paint finish looks great, and the color looks good as well. The interior work looks very nice, and I like the way you flocked the trunk as well. The engine is well detailed. The body proportions from the kit maker are off and without a great deal of body work this still looks good in the way you built it.
StevenGuthmiller Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Looks nice! For all of this kits faults, it still builds into a pretty nice model. Steve
happy grumpy Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Don't be too hard on yourself, you did a very good looking build. The interior and the paint are gorgeous. Sometimes, you build a kit and everything goes wrong ,sometime later you build it again and, everything falls into place. Happened to me more than once. (AMT 1970 1/2 camaro comes to mind). That dashboard looks super nice BTW.
beeRS Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 Your battles paid off. This looks great! You probably already know this, but some of these Trumpeter kits had an issue with the chrome finish.
Sidney Schwartz Posted April 24, 2023 Author Posted April 24, 2023 Thanks all for the comments. Building this one was good experience,,,just not one I'd care to repeat. ?
ChrisR Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Very nice! At the time when the kit was issued Trumpeter did replace the dull chrome sprue with a bright chrome one if you requested it.
Rattlecan Dan Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 Pretty good job for it being such a problem kit. We are all constantly learning as we go. I'll bet your next one will be even better.
raisin27 Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 I bought one of these way back when they were first issued. The chrome had a "frosted" look to it on the early releases. If you contacted them they would replace the defective chrome with new corrected parts.
bbowser Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 I like it! Other than the dull chrome it looks good from here.
