Got a 1/25th built '33 Willys pickup on the way. It will go into the purple pond when it arrives. Wish me luck.

Ordered some Ron Bizio gasser decals from paintinjoe.

Let me know what shade / brand of blue you decide on . I have the same body and decals, but I can’t decide on the color blue as every photo looks like a different shade.

Be careful.....that body is resin.

Also, where did you source the decals?

Will do. Am leaning toward Testors Star Spangled Blue laquer. We'll see.

Thanks, I figured it was since I've never seen a plastic kit for one. The decals are from Fremont Racing (paintinjoe).  He has an auction for them on Ebay right now.

You might want to try the tamyia mica blue

Purple cleaner has been known to attack/soften many resins. If you can get some Westley's Bleche White tire cleaner, I would use that.

Well, it arrived and is pretty much a glue bomb. Got it apart fairly easily. Body looks good, not much damage which is the important part. Do have a complete donor kit available.

Into the Westley Bleache Wite bath. Clear coat and decals came off but paint won't budge. Will probably prime over this as it is pretty smooth.

Here's a pic of what I could save.

Hate the Bleche White didn't do the trick. It probably is painted with automotive lacquer.

It is a very smooth paint job. I will just paint over it. Had to sand down some fish eyes but not too many.

Thanks for the tip on Westleys Bleche, I will use it on other builds.

It looks like it might be painted with Tamiya pearl green. 91% alcohol works on Tamiya and Testors lacquers, so if you want to give it one more shot to get to bare resin it's worth a try. I know you said you were just going to prime over it but bare resin is your best starting point if you want to try to get there.

I've read in this forum that 91% alcohol can be devastating to resin. I have a ways to go before its time to paint so let me think about it. Thanks for the tip.

It can. I know from experience.

I'd just set sand it smooth with fine grit paper, down to at least 3200 grit and repaint. Resin can handle hot paints no problem.

BUT, if you really need to strip it, I've seen people strip Duplicolor paint off resin with lacquer thinner and cotton balls. Just wipe the paint off with damp cotton balls. I have tried it myself and it works but I didn't need to do a whole body.

Some progress. Finally got the chassis trimmed to fit the body. Then it was a fight to get the engine mounted to get the hood down to let the blower hat protrude enough.  I think the stance is close. Still need to sand the body for painting. Not sure of which color blue yet.

I'm calling it done. Went with Testors Star Spangled Blue lacquer. Got the windows and last parts on. Decals were three layer colors and were alot of fun.

Great Job! It looks very much like the full size pickup, which is a cool hot rod. You nailed it! Keep up the good work. ?

That's a good looking Willy's Drag truck.  The blue looks really nice.  Great job man.
