BIGTRUCK Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 (edited) I bought an old Premier Lark hardtop kit thats complete and inside was most of the convertible kit too. The parts that were missing I was able tk make some simple resin molds to make the parts I needed. All gray parts are kit, the light tan are the resin items. The only thing Im missing is the back seat but I'll figure something out. The "A" frame top was missing so that was the first repair. The cowl and hood fit will be the next issue along with the grille/light panel area. The odd scale looks to be 1/27th or 1/28th. Edited May 22, 2023 by BIGTRUCK 1
Kah puts Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 Bravo to you for taking on this build, these Premier and Palmer kits can be so rewarding for a small parts count build, watching with glee?
bisc63 Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 Neat find, and I'm glad to see you building it! Will be watching...
BIGTRUCK Posted May 23, 2023 Author Posted May 23, 2023 Did some work fitting this resin hood and resin cowl piece I made (a field where I have "0" talent but needed parts you cannot find) although the underside of the hood is a little thick with some sanding it fit pretty good . There was a gap where the hood met the cowl so ithat was filled in with plastic bits. I guess the hood is meant to open as it does have an engine consisting of 4 pieces, but no other engine bay details like firewall or inner fenders so I elected to mold in the hood . Next is thin out the front grille area and get it to fit. Im still missing the back seat and I have one in another kit so Im going to have to make one more mold to cast one.
Kah puts Posted May 24, 2023 Posted May 24, 2023 Not to shabby fabrication there Ken, keep up the good work ?
BIGTRUCK Posted May 24, 2023 Author Posted May 24, 2023 This is the only mock-up for this Lark, everything fits good enough, now just have to fill and sand in a few areas. I was able to find a steering wheel and a rear seat that is close in size and with a few cuts and some plastic the seat fits. The hard part left is all the sanding and clean up, I used a good portion of filler as this kit is mostly all multi piece and since it has many resin items , epoxy and super glue gap filler was used. 1
Tom Geiger Posted May 24, 2023 Posted May 24, 2023 I have the Premier Falcon. Aside from the fact that it's too short, too narrow and too tall it's a perfect replica of a Falcon! ?

I also remember there being a nice U-haul style trailer with the Falcon.
ewetwo Posted May 24, 2023 Posted May 24, 2023 (edited) This will be exciting. I have a few Palmer kits. A falcon Hardtop. A Falcon Convertible. A Corvair Coupe. And a 1965 Impala Convertible. Plus some Palmer Tempest parts. Premier and Palmer are the odd balls but a part model car history. Edited May 24, 2023 by ewetwo

Always said, "Johan tooled from factory blueprints, Premiere tooled from memory!"

I found this picture of the one that came with a tralier on the internet.

Like it was compressed from front and back. But it sure is an interesting build to follow. Ken, as far as the back seat goes, couldn't you have made casting of the front seat? Then you could make narrower by slicing some of it off. The seat pattern would match.
BIGTRUCK Posted June 7, 2023 Author Posted June 7, 2023 The body came out ok with gaps all filled in from being a multi piece body. I attached the interior wall to the body rather than to the floor like they suggested. Also went with a custom theme as the rear area had that too tall look. Lipstick on a pig but the longer skirts do something better. I did make a resin copy for the rear seat. I went back and forth with the rear tonneau cover idea but the seat won. Now its try for a wind shield.
BIGTRUCK Posted June 8, 2023 Author Posted June 8, 2023 I put some color on the Lark and some thin strips of plastic on the fender tops and sides to give this old kit a little something. Maybe with white accents on the interior and some chrome on the body it can pop a little bit. Still working on a windshield, may have to go to a wood buck and vacu-form.
Kah puts Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Absolutely fantastic the way it turned out, this is going to be a benchmark Premier ✌️
