I tuned in and out for the whole thing.

A few thoughts.

1. people need to calm down about Jewel's anthem.

2. does a pre-race ceremony need to take an hour?

3. was a mostly entertaining race

4. the last 15 laps were ridiculous. Three red flags in 10 laps?

5. Should not have finished the way it did. I can't believe I'm actually agreeing with NASCAR, in that a race should finish with two laps of green racing, regardless of how long it takes to get there.

6. Interesting that the telecast is still blacked out to residents in the Indianapolis area.

Really it was a rather clean race until the last 60 or so laps. I’m fine with the ending. Red flags and fuel consumption would have altered the outcome too much. Drivers didn’t like it but they understood the reasoning.

Decades ago I watched a race where the leader was way ahead for many laps, then a knucklehead crashed a few laps from the end.  When the green dropped, the second place jumped the start and won the race.  Haven't watched one until this year.  Might not again, just watch the highlights.

I thought the driver raising his face shield mid crash was a bad move, it's there for a reason.

I used to love watching Indy at the end of the "roadster" era, and on into the Lotus mid-engined cars, the turbines, the eventual obsolescence of the venerable old Offenhauser engines, etc.

But over the later years the similarity of the cars and the vastly increased breathless hype kinda turned me off.
