hgbben Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Finally got my hands on the Tamiya Volvo 850 Turbo Estate from Evilbay after foolishly selling one many years ago. This time around I decided to spruce it up a bit with a 850R transkit from Zoomon Models. 3
hgbben Posted September 20, 2023 Author Posted September 20, 2023 The transkit includes insanely detailed and clean parts such as new front bumper, decals, wheels, rear tail light housings and photo etch as shown. First things first, remove the front bumper from the kit and mockup the new bumper. 1
espo Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Built the racing version of this kit for a friend a few years ago. Look forward to watching your build especially with the added detail kit you have.
hgbben Posted September 20, 2023 Author Posted September 20, 2023 Interior colors are going to be a light grey and darker grey. 2
oldcarfan Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 This and the racing version are a couple kits I'd really like to see reissued. I also wouldn't say no it Tamiya or someone decided to put out some of the newer Volvo Wagons and SUVs!
hgbben Posted September 21, 2023 Author Posted September 21, 2023 Chassis detail is underway, primered, paint, and undercoating being a Swedish vehicle. 3
Mattilacken Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 Nice! Will be following! Nice to se the transkit being used ? I built the kit way back when it was new, and i uised to own a Green 850 wagon with a T5-R bumper and roof wing, black interior with wood grain steering wheel.

I personally have loved Volvos since I was a kid and my sisters boyfriend drove a modified 240 GL. Had a 86 740 GLE wagon myself when I was 19. Something about them I suppose 1
hgbben Posted September 21, 2023 Author Posted September 21, 2023 After watching paint dry I have a complete chassis minis wheels and tires this far. 2
Funkychiken Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 It's a cool project! I'll certainly be following, it's looking great so far
kelson Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Great build so far!,i have the same transkit just can't find the paint for it anywhere.?
iamsuperdan Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Nice. I've been eyeballing that transkit for one of my wagons. Have never seen one built though. Looking forward to seeing this one done.

If you airbrush, contact Scalefinishes and see if he can make that color for you. Just give him the paint code and what's its from. He's done that for me in the past 1

Bugatti Fan Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 The old Volvo Bread Van! Nice model taking shape here.
Kennyboy Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Keep it up Ben. Great to see you building again! It's really looking great
hgbben Posted September 24, 2023 Author Posted September 24, 2023 Little update.....put some blackwash on the chassis to make it look used and applied the most fragile wood grain interior decals I've ever come across. Major pita. 3
hgbben Posted September 25, 2023 Author Posted September 25, 2023 Got a little time in today so I was able to finish the interior. 3
Rodent Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 I buckle to peer pressure too easily. I received my kit from eBay today and am waiting for the trans kit from Hong Kong. Sigh.

What did you use to remove the kit bumper, and do you think you will need to add "brackets" to mount the ZoomOn bumper securely?
slusher Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 Can’t go wrong with red! That will look sharp with the interior..
