Finally got my hands on the Tamiya Volvo 850 Turbo Estate from Evilbay after foolishly selling one many years ago. This time around I decided to spruce it up a bit with a 850R transkit from Zoomon Models.

The transkit includes insanely detailed and clean parts such as new front bumper, decals, wheels, rear tail light housings and photo etch as shown.16952412079197623002695882218297.thumb.jpg.0edb694b310dd620bcf6e7b01f7615df.jpg

First things first, remove the front bumper from the kit and mockup the new bumper.

Built the racing version of this kit for a friend a few years ago. Look forward to watching your build especially with the added detail kit you have.

This and the racing version are a couple kits I'd really like to see reissued. I also wouldn't say no it Tamiya or someone decided to put out some of the newer Volvo Wagons and SUVs!

Nice! Will be following! Nice to se the transkit being used ?

I built the kit way back when it was new, and i uised to own a Green 850 wagon with a T5-R bumper and roof wing, black interior with wood grain steering wheel.

I personally have loved Volvos since I was a kid and my sisters boyfriend drove a modified 240 GL. Had a 86 740 GLE wagon myself when I was 19. Something about them I suppose

Great build so far!,i have the same transkit just can't find the paint for it anywhere.?

If you airbrush, contact Scalefinishes and see if he can make that color for you. Just give him the paint code and what's its from. He's done that for me in the past

Nice.

I've been eyeballing that transkit for one of my wagons. Have never seen one built though.

Looking forward to seeing this one done.

:)

Thanks Dan. Slowly making headway on this.

Little update.....put some blackwash on the chassis to make it look used and applied the most fragile wood grain interior decals I've ever come across. Major pita.

I buckle to peer pressure too easily. I received my kit from eBay today and am waiting for the trans kit from Hong Kong. Sigh.

You won't be disappointed with either.

What did you use to remove the kit bumper, and do you think you will need to add "brackets" to mount the ZoomOn bumper securely?
