Hey guys!  I'm from the Pittsburgh area...thanks for the add!  I am new to DETAILED model building!  I have built tons of models back in the 80's when I was a kid but I have never painted one...I mainly glued them together, displayed them for a while and then played with them until they were destroyed!  Now that I am 50+ I have decided to try my hand at building some models with detail and realism!  I am assembling tools and supplies now and I plan to get to my first build this fall!  My first kits will be the AMT 1971 Mach 1 and the Revell 71 Boss that I am going to build as exact replicas to my actual 1971 Mach 1 Mustang!  After that, I don't know...I might build some Lambo's, maybe some Mack Trucks and some military planes!  I already have the 2 1971 Mustang kits and I also have a 1/48 F18 Top Gun jet in my budding stash!  Anyway, thanks for the add and don't mind me if I ask too many questions...I am just learning the tricks of the trade!

As a fellow PA resident I welcome you.   If you are just getting back and assembling tools and paint....the first thing you will need is a dedicated work space with good  lighting and a comfy chair.

I got a decent space...I converted my gun/vintage audio workstation into a model building bench now!  LOL

Welcome to the forum, Barry.  I am located just South of you, near Morgantown, WV.  Did you know that there is a model contest in Pittsburg this weekend?

I didn’t know that!  I may have to check it out!  I’m in Latrobe so it’s only about 40 miles away!

Welcome Barry! Barely got your foot in the door and already got a tip on a show. Hope you make it and have a good time. Many excellent modelers here, and many categorized forums to view, pick up tips and info. Waiting to view some of your posts.

Just 100 miles from the home of Rolling Rock!

Theme is Vantastic!  Another plus...I used to like vintage Vans/street vans.  I used to own a cool 1977 Dodge van!  That's another model I'll have to add to my stash!

Welcome to the forum Barry. May I suggest you start with the AMT mustang kit to get you back in the hobby, when you get to the revell kit you'll find a somewhat more pleasing experience. A lot of knowledgeable people here ready to help.
