R. Thorne Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 I like the fidget for small amounts of ca glue and paint. The next day, after it has dried, I just pop it out. Since ca doesn’t stick to silicone, it works decent for me. 2
Rick L Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 Also works well for mixing bondo or any other polyester resin.
Skip Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 Ron - Great idea, I don't have a fidget yet so guess I'll stick to my water bottle caps, use those for just about everything then toss them when finished. Our recycling doesn't accept bottle caps and lids, so I'm recycling the caps for another use before tossing them! 1
bobss396 Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 I use beer bottle caps for CA glue. I rotate them to get a new spot for a few drops of glue, then toss them.
Brizio Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 I use the same trick at work. Using a leftover piece of silicone. It works great also for epoxy

It works great also for epoxy I've been using business cards and magazine insert cards for years, to mix small batches of bondo and epoxy. Mix it, use it, toss it. I got the tip from Paul Budzig (a Dentist), on his aircraft modeling YouTube channel. He uses cut up copier/typing paper pieces about the size of a Post-It or business card. I always had a wad of business cards at work from every Contractor that I worked with, so free mixing boards!
Rattlecan Dan Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Thanks for the tips. The water bottle cap tip worked fine for me.
NOBLNG Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 (edited) I had never heard of a fidget before this thread. I saw one yesterday for cheap so I snagged it. The CA does not “pop out” of this one like I hoped.? So I am back to using my acrylic glue wells. Each hole holds 3-4 drops of CA. I just made a steel one also. When all filled up, I just re-drill them. For epoxy and putty, I use cut up cereal boxes for pallets. Edited October 12, 2023 by NOBLNG 1
R. Thorne Posted October 15, 2023 Author Posted October 15, 2023 I apologize for this thread/tip. Sorry you had that experience, Greg. Mine had worked great for a week as I popped it out easily the next day. Then, last week I left ca glue in it for 2 days and it ripped apart trying to pop it out. Real silicone would not have reacted that way, so I assume these widgets are not made of pure silicone. Back to my upside down pill bottle, but it does work good for small dabs of paint and Green Stuff World chrome paint.
