Matt Bacon Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 No more classically 70s Brit auto weirdness than these two, first kitted by Airfix in 1973 and reissued as part of their "Vintage Classics" series. The Bugle Buggy was "inspired" by the Manx, obviously, but it was well finished, and the only Brit beach buggy to have properly integrated headlights. Built for a show in a couple of weeks on a 1973 theme... best, M. 3
Chuckyg1 Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 I like both of these, pretty neat. Is that a young Jimmy Buffet behind the wheel of the buggy? 1
ybsluos Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 Matt your builds are phenomenal! Thought you might enjoy these photos of a supercharged Hemi wearing a Bind Bug body! I look forward to more of your work. 1
Yeah Nah Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 Great job on both of these Matt. It was Airfix 1/32 cars that got me really interested in the hobby. Fond memories of the AH Sprite, Triumph TR-4A and even Vauxhall Viva..... 1

Probably wise to add that fourth wheel. The handling might have been a bit err… “wayward” if they’d stuck with just three… best, M. 1
Hard_2_Handle_454 Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 Nice work. I love the dune buggy, but the figures creep me out a bit. 1

They are a bit “uncanny valley,” with that fixed stoned stare, I agree. I’m not a good enough figure painter to really bring them to life, but they’re part of the character of the kit, so I couldn’t leave them out… Let's just say he's grimly determined to push it to the edge, and she's clinging on for dear life... best, M. Your painting was really good for them. I just think it was the figure design in general.
BIGTRUCK Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 Now heres some cool stuff, I really enjoy seeing builds you hardly ever see.. 1
TarheelRick Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 Some really cool builds. I've never seen these before. You might want to take the beach Babe by MacDonalds and get her something to eat, looks like her stomach is about to rub her spine. 1
Mattblack Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Great builds, I've got the buggy in my kit stash. It I thought it would make a good shelf mate for the Revell buggy, from a quick look through the instructions it looks to be a bit more detailed. I'll be leaving the figures out though... 1
Bugatti Fan Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Nice pair of Airfix oldies Matt. The figures reflect the 70's as you would expect from kits of that era. The Buggy driver's hairstyle moustache and neckerchief really look 'in period'. 1
