Yeah Nah Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 Just finished this one today. Mostly a box art build and done with craft acrylics with floor shine clear. I just posted an older build of the same kit done as a stock roadster over in the model cars thread. Thanks for looking. 7
Zippi Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 I really like this one. Love the Pontiac 389 in the business end. Great looking 36 Ford. 1
M W Elky Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 That’s a beautiful build of a great kit. It makes for a nice gasser 1
Phirewriter Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Very cool! Really like box art builds of vintage kits 1
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 (edited) Fine looking model. I just love love love '36 Fords, and this old dinosaur still builds up really nice in the hands of somebody who cares enough to deal with its shortcomings. Edited November 12, 2023 by Ace-Garageguy 1

Oh yeah, shortcomings it definitely has: let's just say that engine is a very 'snug' fit! And as to having to put those headers on AFTER the engine went in...... ask my wife about all the new swear words I invented. But to me there's this 'it' factor that these old AMTs have that keep me coming back. Edited November 12, 2023 by Yeah Nah 2
bobss396 Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Getting the top in place and looking like it belongs there is a big hurdle with these. I have some of the 3 and 5 window issues, also come resin chopped tops. They build up well, as yours shows. 1
carrucha Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Cool build. Nice that you built it like the box art. 1

I didn't have to resort to putty (which I try to avoid at all costs on any build) but there was a 1/16 or so gap on both sides where the rear door line meets the roof that I filled with plastic sheet. I have a third kit yet to build that will definitely getting the custom top-chop and rear wheel skirts. 1

I did use a little filler, right now it is in primer. I have a couple of resin chop-tops in my stash. A 3 and a 5 window. The dry fit is pretty good. 1
Dave42 Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Looks great and love the Steelies. Old school cool. 1
Modlbldr Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 36 Ford!! One of my favorites. Your box art build looks great! Later- 1
bobss396 Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 This and the AMT '40 Ford, you cannot ever go wrong building one. One of those kits that are nice box stock-ish builds. 1
